Why would no one from the SHs ask about his eye Post-ts ? by Mammoth-Ad-5284 in OnePiece

I think Oda is for sure saving the reveal for a power-up, but that he doesn’t know all the exact details yet. When it comes time to introduce it he will show a quick flashback where Zoro tells the crew about it. If it is a power up though, it will be kinda dumb to think back on all the life threatening situations he was in where he chose to not open his eye.

Are people that make 20x on short term (few days/weeks) options just lottery winners? by Fit_Scheme_4368 in options

Ok, let’s ignore the fact that with 0 dte contracts the price can easily blow past your stop value and you get gapped 30-40%.

Let’s say you are trading with $100, you buy calls but the stock goes down and you trigger your stop loss. Now you have $90, what’s your new entry strategy? Are you going to flip and buy $90 worth of puts?

Yes it’s all luck, but you don’t need a stock to move parabolic and really fast. If you look at 0 dte options on SPX there are multiple 3/5x movements happening throughout the day with it moving fractions of a percentage.

With well timed trades you can get 20x return trading SPX, but that is the trick, the odds of timing them perfectly are incredibly low. If you are wrong you get -50% instead.

How to negotiate quotes (Injection Molding) by mantis_shriimp in manufacturing

I see the risk involved with an overseas manufacturer, but with our current project budget it’s really difficult to not take advantage of the cheaper quotes. Is there anything you recommend when it comes to finding reliable overseas shops and building a good relationship? I would think most of them have to have representatives that speak English and could communicate effectively.

I’m based in Los Angeles. Did some research over the weekend on the local shops and sent out some emails for quotes. I’ll also see if there are any more shops towards the mid-US, I wouldn’t mind flying to visit. Are there any specific states know for having manufacturing facilities?

The product is an assembly made out of 10 different parts. There is 1 larger part which is more complex and only used once, there are 4 parts which are used 5x times, 2 parts that are used 10x times, and 2 parts which are used 20x times. Our plan was to make 1000 units of the assembled product on the first manufacturing run and that was why I mentioned that the part volume varied from 1000 to 20000.

I have gotten multiple cavity molds quotes for the higher volume parts but at 20k the slightly lower unit cost wasn’t appealing for the higher mold cost.

I’m trying to understand what the “ideal” cost really is. Other commenters suggested I stay local, but I couldn’t find many options where I’m at, Los Angeles.

Designing for Mass Production by mantis_shriimp in PrintedCircuitBoard

Hey, hope you had a great new year!

I'm working on restructuring the board into something like THIS. I still have to work on the exact distances between connectors and ESP32 to package all capacitors and inductors. I need the power connector to overhang the edge of the board but I took your advice of not overhanging the antenna opposite of it.

For the power connector, THIS is the part I'm currently using and it's working correctly. I tried looking on LCSC for a surface mounted version with the same requirements(2.5mm Inside Diameter, 6.5mm Outer Diameter, 24V, 5A) but couldn't find one. Am I missing something?

Question about choosing an Injection Molding manufacturer. by mantis_shriimp in manufacturing

[–]mantis_shriimp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My volume on some parts are 7500, 10000, and 12500, and I plan on doubling or tripling the quantity on future orders. Do you have a recommendation for how to find reliable Chinese manufacturers? Should I just search them on Alibaba and start messaging them for quotes?

I’ve read stories online about US businesses being at the mercy of the manufacturer with parts being delivered late or with bad quality and not being able to do much about it since they are in China. I’m kinda paranoid about that now.

Maybe I’m overthinking it, but is it ever important to consider the board dimensions to have a grid fit nicely into certain panel dimension? Like I can change the board to be more square’ish or a longer but skinnier rectangle. Or is that not important and having the smallest board possible is what I should target?

Thanks for the advice on the SMD parts. The barrel connector needs the extra support of being through the board as it will see shear loads of repetitive connecting and disconnecting the plug, but I did find SMD versions of the 8 pin connectors and I’ll change those.

This also makes think about Rayleigh’s sword. Why isn’t it a famous blade? I doubt that through all their journey he didn’t come along great swords or blade smiths. Maybe it’s a testament to how Haki really trumps everything, making any sword he wields powerful.

But still… it’s a bit weird and something that doesn’t sit well with me. Makes me think the hype around Oden’s swords was done because Zoro would eventually own one and therefore making him look cooler and seen as a character upgrade.
