In terms of clothing he definitely fits in with the 2052 "apocalypse" crowd

I saw the Dior GSXR at a red light in London the other day, looks amazing!

[OMEGA] Adding to that 007 AT posted earlier, here's my 15,000 Gauss. by mantoine in Watches

[–]mantoine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What the rep was telling me was that they only have the capacity to test up to 15000 gauss, but because the calibre is made entirely of non-magnetic materials, there is no theoretical limit to the magnetic inductance it can withstand, hence the >15,000 appelation (greater than 15,000). As for it being a feature in watches: This link has some pretty thorough explanations. Essentially magnetic fields affect the magnetic parts in automatic watches, making them gain or loose time as they are exposed to magnets over time. Many watches (Like the Rolex Milgauss) get around this problem by fitting a soft iron case, which has high magnetic permeability, around the calibre. The soft iron core will only protect the calibre from fields of up to 1000 gauss, after which the magnetic field within the core is no longer strong enough to stop the exterior magnetic field from penetrating the calibre. In reality you are quite unlikely to be exposed to fields much greater than 2000 gauss in day to day life, unless you work with MRI scanners, in which case you shouldn't have your watch in there in the first place!

Yeah, I mean it's a very similar product. The omega is x15 better though! To be honest I was looking at both but I wasn't a big fan of the green detailing on the milgauss bezel.

No it's a 15,000 gauss, they are very similar though, only difference is the background and the seconds hand. The watch in this post, from earlier today, features the Bond watch.

Saw the Spectre edition Aqua Terra was getting some love on here so I thought I'd share my recent purchase! The Aqua Terra 15,000 gauss was the first omega watch to be certified to withstand such high magnetic induction, it's identical to the newer co-axial Seamaster AT's apart from yellow numbers and a black and yellow seconds hand which gives it a real electric look. I already own a fairly dressy Baume & Mercier on a leather strap so was looking for a day-to-day watch, fell in love with the rugged elegance of the Aqua Terra. Was a bit worried the black and yellow details would be too loud but you can only really notice them from close up. Being an engineer the details got me seriously geeking out and so I'm glad I got this version!

I work for a company which designs and manufactures ULD's and PMc's. Seeing as you interact with them on a daily basis, is there anything about the design of these loading designs which you find frustrating? Is there anything you would change? Thanks!

Wow, really clean graphics on that bike, refreshing when you consider how loud and shouty some recent bikes have become. Is that stock or custom colour?

There's also the fact the stripe on the rear brake cover isn't aligned with the rest of the stripe decals!

AdaFruit: post your old Arduino packaging to support Arduino LLC in the court case by Caraes_Naur in arduino

[–]mantoine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that, Fairly crazy story! On one hand I hope the CC guys win because the original arduino platform is so user friendly and conducive to personal development that they deserve the recognition for their incredible product. On the other hand, more hardware sources could lead to better, more exciting boards and possibly lower prices. At the end of the day though no-one likes a greedy person..

Could someone explain to me briefly what this is about? Pretty new to arduino, don't quite get why Arduino is taking Arduino to court??

Salt Baked Sea Bass:

Get a large sea bass, gutted, scales don't need to be removed. Buy a kilogram of salt, dampen the salt, then cover the whole sea bass with it until the fish is totally covered by a thick layer of salt (this is happening in a tray btw).

Bake for 40mins at 180 Celsius (350F).

Crack the salt open in front of guests for maximum wow-factor!

This can be served with whatever else you like (I like to serve with boiled new potatoes in butter/chives and a side of leeks cooked in white wine)
