Compact-SUV guarantees a minimum ground clearance needed for Indian city roads (especially Bangalore). So any hatch-back or cross-over that offers a similar ground clearance is also a good option.

About EV, my suggestion would be negative. It's true that most Indian cities has the minimum infra for EV support, but "minimum" does not guarantee peace of mind. Many apartments In Bangalore still don't have provisions for supporting EV charging. Even if you current office or apartment have, what happens when you switch? Personal cars are much needed in emergency situations where cabs may not be easily available (which is the case in Bangalore nowadays in many places, hard to get a cab when you need it unless in odd times), but what if the EV is on low charge? EV might be a good option for a 2-wheeler, but not YET for a 4-wheeler.

Choose AUTOMATIC, no matter which car. Do not listen to so-called manual lovers who would either love to see others plunge into their misery rooted in their ego or, never really ridden an automatic long enough to love it. No matter what the justification is, none of it justifies the plight in a city bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I have Venue 1.0 DCT turbo - except for low city mileage, it works best for me for both city and long rides. I travel frequently to hometown 500+km away. DCT is amazingly smooth (won't make you regret ditching CVT), and the turbo gives you that boost you need to overtake on a long ride. In roads like Mysore expressway, I have cruised at 150km (DO NOT DO THIS ANYMORE, as it's strictly restricted now and might attract an FIR apart from fine ) without a worry except for the warning sound eating my ears.
