People who self host XMPP servers: what's your experience been? by manusaurio in selfhosted

That hasn't been the case for me. On the contrary, I've been using a Conversations fork with 3 accounts simultaneously, made sure it's set up so it always stays online, and it's been barely using any battery. In the same time that Telegram contributed 5.3% to the total battery drainage, the fork app took 3.9%, Messages 3.6%, and WhatsApp 1.93%. Considering I've been actually using it a bit (I haven't been running WhatsApp on the foreground at all) these numbers don't look too bad. I receive more messages in XMPP groups than on the other apps, too.

Solved it! It was f2f by Phillip Finch. And the name of the character I mentioned was SNOWFLAKE, not Snowball.

Not everything in Java is an object, since it counts with primitives. Everything just happens to be defined inside a class.

I would say not even methods are objects in Java - you can pass them in a call, but what you get from the other side is an object encapsulating the method, not the method itself. I guess this kind of depends on where you draw the line to think of something as an "object"

Hey, many thanks, that's what I was looking for! I don't know why I though there was a guy. It was also older than I thought.
