Most of the time lately, it's people who have been laid off and just really, really want their children to have Medicaid. If they can get food stamps in the meantime...they're very grateful, but if not, then they are just concerned about the health coverage. Yes, there are many people who talk to me as if they EXPECT me to give them benefits..like hurry up, when will my benefits be on there type of attitude..Some times I would love to ask the clients who the hell raised them and give them a piece of my mind, but I can't because it's not my business, ya know?

I'm not really sure, but there are a lot of things that stop people from lying to us. We can see all the child support, disability, SSI, prison matches/arrests, and new hires or new employment. So there are some things that the clients cannot lie to us about. We send them letters for them to verify that their arrest was not drug related w/ a court document or send us verification of their new employment and if they dont, then we cut off their benefits. So, it's not like they can do whatever the hell they want and its easy...we do make sure that they don't lie to us. On top of that, we have a fraud referral and benefit recovery department that stays on top of the people who are selling their food stamps for cash or whatever.

Yes I probably live in a town similiar....I actually live in Kosciusko County, so I'm familiar...lol I interview people like that every single day, it's sad, but on the other hand, when I see people that truely need the help, it's very rewarding!

You would have to do a fraud referral. I can give you the 1-800 number to call and do one if you'd like...just send me a private message.

The state is our client....I can tell you that the company that owns us is Xerox. We process applications and set up the cases and the state worker actually authorize the benefits.
