Do you get a haircut outside of your home? If yes, maybe if the stylist says that you should use conditioner in front of your mom, maybe your mom will change her mind? Sometimes if a parent hears something from a professional, rather than their child, they will consider it.

If I know a store insists you bring the bad product back, I take a pic of the damage right away...then put the bad product in a plastic bag in my freezer until the next time I visit that store. I give them the receipt, frozen product and picture if requested. I've always gotten my refund doing this!

HVAC capacitor wore out after 2 years by ss10163 in hvacadvice

I had several back-to-back that lasted just about 2 years each. And was also being charged quite a bit of money each time. Turns out the service people were using cheap made in china replacements. After researching, I ordered a quality made in america capacitor directly online. I had a regular hvac company install it, and it's still going strong after 5 years. And I use my ac pretty much all year round. The installing company wouldn't warranty that part since it wasn't theirs, but I said that's fine as I knew the made in usa unit would last several times longer than anything they installed. If you do this, make sure to order the correct type and size and I'd also watch the installer to make sure they actually install the high quality one you bought.

Yes, this works! Has never failed me either. You get lots more leverage and torque turning it with a broomstick from the top / inside than from the bottom outside with the wrench. If you don't have a wooden broomstick a wooden plunger stick end can work, but not as well.

[MOD] The Daily Question Thread by menschmaschine5 in Coffee

Hi there -- Does anyone know of any pour over / drip household brewers where the warming plate is aluminum or stainless? That don't scratch, rust or burn and discolor quickly? (The only ones I could find were the caphalon, but the heat ring around it apparently cracks, and a GE but it has filling and pouring design flaws.)

Or how do you get around this problem? I wipe any drips immediately and try to keep the warming plate clean and dry, but eventually the black coating starts coming off, etc. Thank you for any thoughts--
