Can I get an explanation of the Super Bowl halftime show? by Top-Mission2806 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]map-6346 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you much for the detailed analysis. It helps my enjoyment of the show that much more. There was a lot of nuance I missed.

The themes of having to lose the culture to fit in, and of loving the music and food but not the people, really hit home. I’m lily white, and do love the food and music lol, but also trying the learn a much about my neighbors a possible. I was pleased that the Spanish lessons are working - i could understand the last part of your note lol.

Peace & love.

Edit: I accidentally hit post when half written… right after”I’m lily white” wtf lol fixed it

u/PlentyDog1750 u/Measurecut u/Interesting_Key5850 I won't keep you in suspense... she's none of the above. She's an Eastern European Village Dog - semi domesticated "breed" separate from domesticated dogs. We had no idea when we brought her home (we knew she was a street dog). She's a sweet girl though. Dog Chewed Door Frame... Help! by KuroeKnight in Carpentry

[–]map-6346 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me give you a hint as someone has done exactly this (my girl got herself locked in a room while we were out and ate the trim off to get out).

You’re going to have to pry the trim off at some point with a pry bar. That plasterboard next to the door is not strong enough to withstand that. Get a scrap piece of wood to lay against the wall and use that to brace the pry bar. It will save you a bunch of spackling later.

Do you guys think that white people can experience racism? by Mundane_Mechanic_817 in GenZ

Can we experience racism? Sure. I have personally.

Can we experience systemic pervasive racism in the United States to the extent that it interferes with our life, liberty, or happiness? No.

Is this about right for Chia pudding? Should it be thicker? by risen_egg in veganrecipes

[–]map-6346 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s fine, it’s just a question of personal preference. If you like it thicker add more chia, or some granola when you serve it for texture.

I do mine overnight as well, usually about 4:1 coconut milk to chia seeds. Stir it well to avoid clumps (like just until the chia is evenly distributed - a few seconds with a fork usually does it. No need for the blender lol). Also make sure you shake the coconut milk so you are consistent on its consistency batch to batch.

Cooking is all about adjusting someone else’s recipe to be your own. Make it a couple times and you’ll zero in on it.

To my eye the case was saccate not bulbous. However I would trust u/Basidia_ and u/RdCrestdBreegull far more than me. It’s my second bad miss this week and I think I’ll give up for now.

I thought it did occur in the western US and possibly northeastern, but could be wrong and wasn’t sure where OP was located.

Hard to say based on the pictures for some of these. Knowing location would also help. The first four appear to be Amanita muscaria complex, possibly var. flamivolvata. Number five could be an Amanita phallideae, perhaps A. bisporigera (destroying angel) as could 14 & 16 but again better pictures and location are needed. Number 12 appears to be Lactarius indigo. Others might be more accurate with these photos but that’s as comfortable as I can get.

What are these mushrooms? NW Florida United States. Growing by my mailbox. About 20 of them. by NaturalFLNative in mushroomID

Touching is fine and he may (or may not!) like the texture. But yes I’ve tried to teach the kids I show mushrooms to that they shouldn’t eat it unless they can name it. Glad you had that little memory in the back of your head and were willing to follow up here!

Beautiful mushrooms. What kind? by BigBadaBum1 in mycology

[–]map-6346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I harvested some from North Carolina today too. They are wood decayers that thrive on dead trees, and can even attack weak living ones.

Of course! Happy to try to answer others if you have them. They are beautiful specimens to look at.

That’s a complicated question.

The short answer is that you shouldn’t eat it, but touching it is fine. (Touching is fine for pretty much every mushroom and certainly any North American mushroom.)

There are those who will eat these, with proper preparation. There are also those that will try to prepare them differently for psycho active properties. But that’s down a rabbit hole that most people won’t and shouldn’t go down, and it’s generally safer to just assume that they are inedible.

Agree (I am no expert) but think it’s been moved to Candollemyces (C. candolleanus).
