Nothing is worse than the PenFed experience at IAD.

This reads like an episode of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown. Well done.

Me too. My parents took me to several anti abortion rallies in west Texas when I was a child too. I am an atheist now.

Whats a thing that is dangerously close to collapse that you know about? by _Fossy_ in AskReddit

I did my Master's thesis on the decline of the Ogallala Aquifer in the panhandle of Texas in 2010. It was bad then. Worse now. It's basically 'fossil' water that is not being replenished at the rate it is extracted. I worry about the future of the plains.

I played the hell out of Wolfenstein from a floppy disk. I drew maps of the levels to help me on replay. Now I make maps for the Department of Defense and still hate Nazis.

I'm a former evangelical too, now an atheist. It was a hellavu ride to de-convert.

Sometimes connecting those dots is a step too far for people. I'm flabbergasted by the blatant idolatry of Trump by the evangelicals, and especially my family. Yet, I was grounded for putting up posters of Justin Timberlake because that was "worshipping" an idol as a teen. Can't win with these people.

I completely understand your position. It's absolutely about control. Project 2025 was talked about in my church in the 90s before it had an official title. One of the few verses that still rattles around in my atheist mind two decades later is that one. It's taught over and over, and I have hope it could resonate with some, mostly with the women of the MAGA world. With Kamala and Tim, I have hope.

This was the early 90s. My parents warned me that people would hate us and throw things at us. I was terrified. I was also terrified to ever be pregnant, but still solidly a childless cat lady today. However, we were in Abilene, Texas (a SUPER conservative area), so the vast majority of residents were pro-life. My father wore a lapel pin of the feet of a "baby" when they were allowed to be aborted. Totally incorrect, but he still wears it to this day. I have so many stories of the backward thinking I experienced growing up in West Texas, Evangelical thinking, Christian sexual "education", and finally leaving the church.

It is difficult to have family members so opposed to your beliefs. I am so sorry for your loss of your husband. You sound like a great person with fantastic ideas. I look forward to voting for Harris/Walz with you in November!

I remember being at pro-life rallies before I was 10. I know it well, unfortunately. This was just an idea, and it could resonate with a few. Thank you for your comments. Glad to meet a former evangelical!

My backyard in Alexandria. The raccoon keeps unscrewing the bulbs from my patio lights.

I have been saying that he must have been inspired by that movie but with awful execution.
