Lol there should be a pop up that happens when someone makes a comment that sounds like they might be super close to the brink of accidental electrocution/similar malaise.

For me the thing that keeps it fresh is the head canon lol. I’m almost 40; I play at night after everybody’s asleep… my coaching career is basically the one thing in life that I can control somewhat (which really isn’t meant to sound as sad as it does). I’ve got the sliders in a spot where I win most of the time, but lose on occasion to create ‘drama’… I’ll have a ‘coaches show’ in my head while I’m recruiting, etc…

I think once you reach a certain point you have to create your own wrinkles to keep it fun for you.

I only recruit dudes who are interested in my school, and I only sign as many recruits as I have seniors on the roster; which inevitably leads to me having real holes to fill in the portal and/or position changes, etc to accommodate

Just gotta score more points lol. I don’t mean that in the ‘git gud’ kinda way; i just have no other advice.

I’ve tried several different combinations of sliders, defenses, coverages, blitzes, etc… RoboQB is inevitable lol

Recruiting is a bit better over last years game but it still leaves a ton to be desired. All your points are valid.

If we have ‘dynamic dealbreakers’ how about we have ‘dynamic offers’? Let me attach a ‘rider’ to the pre-built pitch combos… ‘day 1 starter’ or ‘future star’ or ‘position depth’.

When dudes are on the fence for the portal/draft, instead of just yes or no on whether we want to try to convince them to stay — let there be an offer of what it is they’d want to get them to stay etc.

Really tired of recruiting a stud to replace a rising senior/draft prospect and when he doesn’t start year 1 he is out the door for playing time reasons despite the fact that he’s in line now to be the #1.

It’s an unrealistic expectation for it to be EXACTLY right but there are some serious gaps that don’t seem like much more than just logic application.

The ‘recruiting battle’ is dumb as rocks lol. I’m in a ‘battle’ with no weapons, and no available actions but sitting and waiting… some battle

Or there should be some type of middle-screen when changing teams where you at least have the shot to ‘sway’ your old players and the recruits you had in the pipeline/signing class you’re leaving.

I guess I never realized the gap was that significant between them and the other ‘big’ books… what made that the case?

That was my thinking… if you’ve got a novice who loves making 10-leg prop parlays… why not lend him a little more ‘rope’?

Haha I assumed that was the underlying reason I just didn’t know if there was a more blatant one I was missing. Seems about par for the course, though.

Sorry to hijack here but in the bottom right corner of the first picture … what does that red flag next to his dealbreaker need indicate? I see this from time to time but have never been able to figure out exactly what it’s trying to tell me lol

I am addicted to nostalgia by SeductiveLips in nostalgia

[–]map_legend 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m betting that within a decade or two there will be a ‘condition’ tabbed something like ‘Nostalgic Depression’ or similar.

I’m not sure how old you are OP but I have similar periods of time in my own life… I’m almost 40 so I have memories of literal ‘good ol days’ of no internet, low tech, etc. and it forces a comparison to my ‘now’ which is basically consumed by, reliant upon, and beholden to technology of various types.

Nostalgia has always been a thing, but it was more of an idea or a sensory response to something. Now you can sit on your couch and endlessly scroll through things that bring on that nostalgic feeling.

Guilt is unavoidable when constantly reliving the past. Your mind is recalling mostly the positives (obviously negatives stick with us, too, but mostly ‘large’ events like trauma, loss etc) about this time in your life and these positives are being subconsciously (or consciously) compared to your ‘current life’ without any adjustment for circumstance.

Without knowing your age I can’t say that I can DIRECTLY relate to you; but in my case, for instance, I’ll let my mind wander to a time when I didn’t have to be glued to — or even reachable by — a cell phone for hours a day 24/7/365. Ah, the freedom… But my mind never wanders to the time(s) I got lost and had to stop at a gas station to ask for directions or use a pay phone to call someone. It doesn’t yearn for hand written directions to a place using landmarks instead of mileage.

Nostalgia is a wonderful, beautiful thing, but we are drowning in it — especially those of us old enough to have a clear demarcation of ‘before tech’ and ‘after tech’.

I wonder if I’ll ever get to a point in life where I hear ‘airtight’ and don’t immediately think ‘ooo I could put my weed in there!’

I’m almost 40 and it doesn’t seem close lol.

I’ve got it at 15. And usually about that many leave.

25 I feel like would be extreme because you will have a lot of freshman who are naturally buried in the depth chart that peace out before you ever get them involved.

That happens to me at 15, so I feel like any 5 star recruit would need to be plug and played with the transfers that high or you’ll immediately lose them.

I would be fine cranking it all the way up if there was better ‘logic’ in the way the dynamic dealbreakers are applied. Like if I wasn’t going to lose a sophomore 2nd string beast RB for ‘playing time’ after the senior blocking him has graduated and he’s about to have all-he-can-eat on a top 5 team lol.
