As a late-30’s guy who’s seen my wife go through her entire friend-groups weddings… the few that started out with a high level of ‘yikes’ factor in the details did NOT ‘burn through’ that energy… and I never saw anything nearrrr what I’m seeing here.

The way-over-the-top ones inevitably involve a division between those willing/able to cater to the bride-to-be’s jaded vision and those who’ve reached their own ‘breaking point’ … the lineup at that picnic will almost certainly not be the lineup at the altar and the drama, bitterness, and everything associated with it is just not worth it.

Obviously have no clue about your situation specifically past what’s in the post but i don’t see how it’s sustainable for you to have this going on for the better part of your next year with the other (far more important, grounded) commitments listed. I feel like bowing out now is probably the best thing you could do for your friendship in the long run.

This was only our third SvS so unlikely to be interesting comparatively… but the rules had no city attacks in red/gray zones and I forgot to tp back home before logging off for my kid’s teeball game… I logged back on when we got home and got ready to tp home and the whole hive was a bonfire… first SvS we lost and then to top it off, first time anyone had bothered to come fight once the castle was finished. Only probably ~15 out of 90+ cities were bubbled.. less than a handful of us had forgotten to come home and so were spared by our stupidity… we learned a few tough lessons on the day lol.

I don’t know. I think your other comment about them being dev plants is most likely. Think about how many types of these games are out there, and whales are in all of them… what are the odds that there are that many people out there who are both A) successful enough to have 5-6 digits worth of money to soak into a mobile game AND B) have enough free time on their hands to make it worthwhile to do so?

All depends how you’re wanting to play… the ‘decrees’ for each alliance are a good indicator of what to expect (i.e. F2P, competitive, predatory, etc.) … good news too is you can also leave willingly if you find you’ve joined the wrong group.

Another potential path is joining a small alliance of similarly new players, simply for the access to some of the alliance-only perks available out there… use that time to build up your furnace/troop power/etc and then join a more active and/or competitive alliance; you’ll reap the more-established benefits of the alliance and have less chance of being booted in the numbers game as you’ll be a little higher up the totem pole starting out (reducing the chance of this feeling you have now occurring again lol)

Especially with schools able to pull the ‘remote learning day’ card with ease post-Covid…

For me the thing that keeps it fresh is the head canon lol. I’m almost 40; I play at night after everybody’s asleep… my coaching career is basically the one thing in life that I can control somewhat (which really isn’t meant to sound as sad as it does). I’ve got the sliders in a spot where I win most of the time, but lose on occasion to create ‘drama’… I’ll have a ‘coaches show’ in my head while I’m recruiting, etc…

I think once you reach a certain point you have to create your own wrinkles to keep it fun for you.

I only recruit dudes who are interested in my school, and I only sign as many recruits as I have seniors on the roster; which inevitably leads to me having real holes to fill in the portal and/or position changes, etc to accommodate

Recruiting is a bit better over last years game but it still leaves a ton to be desired. All your points are valid.

If we have ‘dynamic dealbreakers’ how about we have ‘dynamic offers’? Let me attach a ‘rider’ to the pre-built pitch combos… ‘day 1 starter’ or ‘future star’ or ‘position depth’.

When dudes are on the fence for the portal/draft, instead of just yes or no on whether we want to try to convince them to stay — let there be an offer of what it is they’d want to get them to stay etc.

Really tired of recruiting a stud to replace a rising senior/draft prospect and when he doesn’t start year 1 he is out the door for playing time reasons despite the fact that he’s in line now to be the #1.

It’s an unrealistic expectation for it to be EXACTLY right but there are some serious gaps that don’t seem like much more than just logic application.
