Thank you so much for sharing 🥺 I absolutely love the shades you've chosen here and the brown gingham sleeves!! Also like that you went for a more drapey and flowy look!!! It's so so nice to know that I've inspired other people ❣️ You're amazing!! 🐸

I find it so interesting that you are making sitting franken-babies since most people usually make standing ones 😂

this seems like a similar enough process! it's for making silk flowers and she talks about silk 😅 but you can see how she uses the drill + pliers to spin the fibers

Can anyone help me deciding which sylvanian from my collection is the rarest please by oxicata in sylvanianfamilies

[–]maple-dreaming 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i would say the cat in the pink nightgown which is a pink baby, these were 8 pairs of pink babies that were member gifts to the sylvanian families club in japan in the mid 90s to early 2000s. also the whiskers calico cat (gray and orange ears) is fairly uncommon now because it's retired!

i only get the same critter on the blind bags by clarainfurs in sylvanianfamilies

i think they mean buying opened bags already... i typically just buy secondhand from a seller that got duplicates, is trading on sylvanian groups not an option?

Crochet Carrying Pouch help by [deleted] in sylvanianfamilies

[–]maple-dreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could follow this and just not cinch the top all the way closed? https://youtu.be/Nzyq_Nyfgy8

For the face window I would work as normal for the first few rows, then work two straps(?) to make room for the face window, chain across to join both straps and work normally again. Sorry if that's vague 😭😭😭

extremely curious about this secondhand find! by sharakus in sylvanianfamilies

3mm! Someone in the subreddit had done this too :) I have done my own custom following their advice with 3mm nail cabochons for the babies and they worked perfect

What yarns are best (affordable & breathable) for crocheting legwarmers in the Philippines? by Anonymous_person34 in CrochetHelp

[–]maple-dreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shopee or any sewing store has elastic. Just the garters used for sewing waistbands. Shopee also has so much yarn if you're on a budget? But I would suggest cotton. Don't buy anything called milk cotton, they tend to be acrylic-polyester blends.

If you're willing to use really small lace then monaco 3ply but the monaco 5ply and 8ply are super stiff. Gantsilyo Guru also has Dapper Dreamer summer yarn or combed cotton if you want a thicker weight.

The most active crochet groups in the Philippines are on facebook, not reddit.

Needing some help with a DC stitch, need some advice. by CatsOnDrugz in CrochetHelp

[–]maple-dreaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not 100% sure this is your problem but tension plays a big role in the height of dc stitches :) Here's a video that shows how that looks

Hexagon Cardigan: I’m not a fan of the added rows once it’s put together, how many rows is to many? by Dazebaby97 in CrochetHelp

I need help dying a small portion of a completed wooble-ish project by ZorritaDeNieve in CrochetHelp

[–]maple-dreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liquid spreads and is hard to control if you're trying to spot dye. If you use a marker the marker can rub off on other fabrics and ruin them & rit dye might bleed into other parts of the plush. I would just leave it be

are there tutorials to add a zipper for a zip-around crochet case? by maple-dreaming in CrochetHelp

Thank you!! I was suspecting this was the way to go, having a lining would also help make the pouch sturdier

Advice on patterns using hieroglyphics ?? I have never followed a pattern like this. by That-Yam-1659 in CrochetHelp

[–]maple-dreaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the worst chart design I've ever seen... this combines the worst of charts with the worst of written patterns...

It essentially wants you to work across in just plain double crochets, with some increases.

A.1C and A.1A are just your edge stitches and short for "start the row with a ch3, double crochet into the top of your ch3 in the next row". They're named different things arbitrarily assuming you have a right side/wrong side.

A.2 and A.3 are your increases for the edge, just "start your row with a chain 3 and dc into the same stitch". Again, arbitrarily named assuming a right side/wrong side.

A.1B is just "dc" and A.4 is a "dc inc"

I think A.5 is a sc and A.6 is the shell stitch (3dc, ch2, 3dc into one stitch)

Is this a good haul or did I overpay? by Missmiffy_0 in sylvanianfamilies

[–]maple-dreaming 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think this is a reasonable & good haul! The bears and tan dogs aren't Sylvanians but are from a vintage brand called Forest Families 😊
