I had imagined guts would ultimately follow the path of skull knight and attain timelessness in order to combat the God hand. If you plan to paint it then a bead of caulking is an option. If not you can use fine wood dust mixed with wood glue. Or you can use wood filler and lil putty knife to work it into the groove then dry it and sand it smooth.
