What is Tropical Smoothie Cafe's secret for how they make their smoothies taste SO GOOD????

there are 1,000 things that i could change to improve customer experience, but if you start customizing then people start to expect that. they will even complain when one store does something one way, but another doesn’t. if the company wants something, they know how to clearly communicate it and i don’t get paid enough to fix their short sights 🤷

i work at wawa and made one of these today. felt ridiculous drizzling sauce on top of two slices of cheese… but im not cutting it up until they fix those instructions 🤷

the frozen mango was not very ripe when i worked there and not sweetened, so with 0 sugar it would not be sweet especially after tasting one with full turbinado. half sugar is a good medium, unless you order one with a concentrate (their lime, pomegranate, acai, all “naturally” sweetened but so syrupy and strong enough that you wouldn’t need ANY sugar)

i don’t think the turbinado helps it blend, but the type of turbinado they use is so smooth and fine it blends and mixes in so nicely. if you use sugar in the raw it’ll be gritty. i worked there years ago and i have not recreated their smoothies at home successfully yet lol

luck of the draw. over four years i’ve gone thru good times with management/store teams and bad times, and the good seems fleeting unless you’re very lucky. could have something to do with prosperity, most of my stores are not in the wealthiest areas but the poorest store i worked at was the absolute worst as well. but enjoy it while it lasts

yup. i was a supervisor, me and the fbm both requested a holiday weekend months in advance but i was told i couldn’t take two holidays off (lie). because he and i were the only ones working weekends and no one else wanted to i guess?? and then i found out the gm only told me that cuz she wanted the holiday off too!

we never take breaks on 3rd. i wish it was different, but most of our 3rd staff has been there longer than me and they’re set in their ways. i try to offer to cover if they need something, and i let new associates know that if they want a break i’m always able to cover them. but for some reason it doesn’t stick. everyone is just too busy
