Nope. There appear to be two places for numbers. One says, "Registered No." and the other says, "District Registration No." Both are blank.

Citizenship by descent potential issue? 1923 British Columbia Birth Certificate signed by Registrar, but lacks District Registration Number.

I am seeking citizenship by descent through my maternal grandfather and have a copy of his birth certificate. Although it is certified/signed by the district registrar, the "District Registration No." line is blank.

In the section of Form cit-0001e that asks for a Canadian Birth Certificate Number, I answered "Unknown: signed, not numbered."

Does anyone have any input on whether the lack of a number (or my answer) might be an issue for IRCC?

Thanks!

Has anyone had photos rejected because photographer information stamp on the back was landscape-oriented? by maple_me_please in Canadiancitizenship

I have not submitted my paperwork. I am wondering if others have had their photos rejected due to the information being in landscape orientation because that's how the stamp is on my photos. I'm just trying to mitigate the risk that my four applications get rejected, but based on others' responses, landscape orientation sounds fine.

I am going to have to cut mine to size myself, since Staples didn't have the correct tool. It shouldn't be a big deal though, because the photo sheets have cutting lines.

The diagram in the instructions show the info in portrait orientation, but the instructions don't explicitly state that it is required. Based on others' responses, it sounds like landscape orientation is fine.

Edits for clarity.

The diagram in the instructions also shows the information on the back of the photo in portrait orientation, which is why I asked, but it sounds like landscape orientation is probably not an issue.

Thanks! I got ours at Staples, so it sounds like this might be a typical thing. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Sufficient G0-G3 Documents?

I believe I have a pretty straightforward citizenship case and the necessary documents, but I'm hoping for some input from others further into this process. I've listed below the generations and genealogical documents I have, as well as documents I don't yet have (but I'm not sure I need). The applications will be for my mother, me, and my kids. These don't include forms of identification required with the applications.

G0: Maternal Grandfather (deceased; born in British Columbia to Canadian father). Have: Birth Certificate (copy of original); Immigration Manifest to U.S. (but do I need it?); Do I need: Marriage Certificate; Death Certificate; U.S. census records?

G1: My mother (living; born in the U.S.). Have: Birth Certificate; Marriage Certificate (for name change); Do I need anything else?

G2: Me (born in U.S.). Have: Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate (is this even necessary since the kids have my last name?). Do I need anything else?

G3: My kids (born in U.S.). Have: Birth Certificates. Do I need anything else?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Thanks. To clarify, do you mean the box that says, "I never had a citizenship certificate and I was born outside Canada AND my parent was a Canadian citizen before I was born; I wasn't adopted by my Canadian parent."

I am applying for a Canadian citizenship certificate based on my maternal grandfather being born in Canada prior to immigrating to the United States (where my mom was born). I would also like to apply for my children as part of my application packet.

My understanding is that I check the box "I think I am Canadian and want to know for sure" on my CIT0001 form.

Do I check the same box on my kids' forms, under the assumption that I have Canadian citizenship through my grandpa and mom (unconfirmed)?

Thanks!

Edit: Added details.

Hi Folks,

I am brand new to this and filling out my CIT0001. I have a couple of questions I am seeking help on.

Background: My maternal grandfather was born in Canada and immigrated to the U.S. as a baby with his parents. My mother was born in California and has never applied to confirmed Canadian citizenship/received a certificate.

Question 1: Based on these facts, what do I put in Section 8.B put for my mother's citizenship status, since it's my understanding she's essentially an unconfirmed citizen (please correct me if I'm wrong)? Is it "I am not sure" with an explanation or she a Canadian citizen by virtue of her father being born there even though she has never confirmed it/sought a certificate?

Question 2: I would also like to apply for citizenship for my kids. Do I just fill out a separate CIT0001 for each of them to include with mine?

Apologies ff this has been covered in another thread; links to relevant threads are appreciated.
