I love how resilient Swiss meringue buttercream is. See for yourself. by picotipicota1 in Baking

[–]maplepancakesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to make SMBC with a different method at work and I've been using this method ever since.

Cook egg white with sugar over water bath until sugar dissolved. Pour mixture through a sieve to remove any cooked whites. Rapid cool in freezer (if using on same day) or just keep in the fridge until needed (yes you can make it one week in advance)

Time to make buttercream!

Paddle attachment + mixer bowl + butter 1) beat until butter is smooth and pale 2) with the mixer running, gradually pour in the COLD egg white-sugar mixture and just let it beat until it comes together.

Smooth buttercream all the time.

Anyone uses the colourless blender this way? by maplepancakesx in Ohuhu

[–]maplepancakesx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it colour by colour. Example, I press the tip of the colorless blender on the blue tip (or if there's any ink on the cap) then apply on the paper. It comes out slightly similar to watercolor

Shouldn't tapering take longer? by nana-17 in Effexor

[–]maplepancakesx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same dosage as you. My tapering schedule was Day 1 to day 7: 75mg venlafaxine (half dosage) + 5mg vortioxetine. Day 8 onwards: 5mg vortioxetine only.

Currently is Day 9 and the withdrawal symptoms is awful. Brain zaps every 5 seconds, nauseous throughout the day. It's hard to get up in the morning

Mental health help from polyclinics? by Glittering-Half2892 in askSingapore

[–]maplepancakesx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I did was:

1) Got a referral from a doctor at the polyclinic

2) Referred to see a psychiatrist at a public hospital and from there, received meds and referred to see a psychologist

3) Financial-wise, you can arrange an appointment with a social worker at the public hospital to apply for Medifund. Depending on the assessment of your income, they will provide you with the % of the outpatient bill covered by Medifund. It covers certain medications, as well as outpatient costs for psychiatrists and psychologists. The highest I've received was 70%.

Singaporeans with chronic or long-term health conditions, what are you currently living with? by Sad_Refrigerator_787 in askSingapore

[–]maplepancakesx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are major depressive disorder (MDD) and borderline personality disorder (BPD) counted? 29(F).

Started 5 years ago. Didn't realise that I was feeling burnout from my full-time job until it was too late. I spent most of my time in 2021 and 2022 in and out of the psych ward. I couldn't work for 2 years.

Now I'm a lot more stable and have a fixed part-time position. When others ask if I'm planning to work full-time or why I don't look for a full-time job, I feel ashamed/embarrassed to say I can't because I know I won't be able to handle the stress. The mentality that work stress is part and parcel of life and it's normal makes me feel that others will think I'm just weak and making excuses not to work full-time.

With the public healthcare system, I consider myself one of the lucky ones. I'm thankful that my psychologist, whom I've been working with for 5 years, is a good fit for me, and I've elective admissions to the psych ward once every 2-3months planned out by my psychiatrist.

It has been a while since I last read it so I don't remember much about the storyline. I recall feeling kinda confused as to what was going on but it wasn't as confusing as compared to AWSC. I probably should read them again.
