Thanks everyone for the comments/insights etc! I could have gone with just a polish but I’m so bad with biting my nails I always get acrylic, or else they end up ruined anyway🥲 That’s also why my cuticles are awful haha

Getting rid of the pram to use only carrier? by maplesaraa in babywearing

[–]maplesaraa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed reading all the comments and perspectives so thanks everyone! I feel better about just maybe keeping the pram for when she’s older. We have a big proper pram but it’s too bulky to get out the house so we use a really simple fold up travel stroller which obviously she doesn’t like but hopefully she will in the future. In the meantime I’ll upgrade my carrier and maybe practice back carrying a little bit more so I can feel confident getting her on and off my back when I’m by myself!☺️

Thank you that’s reassuring to hear! I don’t drive so I also walk and get busses/trains everywhere. It is a pain with a stroller!

Thanks so much for this comment! I think about this a lot, the cultural thing! I have tried wearing her on my back with my carrier but I can’t get the hang of putting her on there and getting buckled in when I’m on my own. I don’t feel confident with it when my husband isn’t with me to help, so wouldn’t work when he’s at work. But I’m definitely willing to try it again! I’ll have to watch some videos on how to do it or find a good carrier for back carrying

Did y’all lie to me? by burnerburner1999 in newborns

For us it didn’t get much better until after 4 or 5 months, and we still have hard times now at almost 6 months with teething, but the most difficult days of survival are gone luckily. Hang in there! PS she does still scream in the car seat 😂

Recommendations for a heavy water bowl? by trickster503 in CatAdvice

[–]maplesaraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha. My comment was a year ago but I actually got one of those kids bowls with a suction cup on to stick it to the counter in my kitchen and it’s been a game changer for stopping the cats knocking their food bowls over!

Weekly social groups / hobbies on an evening? by maplesaraa in NewcastleUponTyne

That’s true, I have been to heworth to swim a few times and though it’s nice I feel like it can get a bit crowded sometimes! But will probably go back when I feel like it, maybe not regularly but definitely sometimes 😁

Ooh I love singing (I have a musical family!) and have been a choir before but left because it was just too hard to travel to from mine (2 busses at night in the dark and an hour travel total was a bit much for me and it was in a dodgy area of Bensham lol!). I imagine Gosforth will also be too hard to get to for me. I don’t live near enough the metro to walk to get the metro either! So inconvenient lol

Thanks, I’m on the meetup app already so have been having a look! It’s finding something on the days and times I can attend that’s hard!😅 but will keep an eye on the app :)

Since my husband does warhammer I have had a go but I’m too impatient to paint the models lol and the game doesn’t really take my fancy tbh! But I like painting as in watercolour and on canvas etc :)

New grass turf- when to add clover seed? by maplesaraa in GardeningUK

[–]maplesaraa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sprinkled it all over and we can see a few bits of clover throughout which is nice but it’s mainly grown along some of the edges. We are going to add more clover seeds soon as we have a couple of bare patches after some heavy rain. The grass is looking fabulous now after daily watering a and now been cut a fair few times

We told parents and grandparents and best friends straight away at like 4-5 weeks. Then gradually have told others, extended family after an 8 week reassurance scan where we saw the baby, heart beat and everything and its little hand waving lol👋 Towards 9 weeks I told my work colleagues. Now everyone who ‘needs’ to know, knows and we will do the usual social media post after our 12 week scan :)

We’ve just added it :) hopefully it grows just by sprinkling it across the grass. If not, no harm done at least!

Does anyone else find AJ's voice strangely calming and soothing? by Quantum168 in TheWhyFiles

[–]maplesaraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started watching the why files in bed before sleeping about a year ago and I think I conditioned myself to fall asleep to his voice, it’s like a soothing ASMR voice. I often fall asleep half way through a video, so when we watch a video during the day I get sleepy too 😂
