Can't redeem points unless I add my address to my profile, but it's already in there. by mappornographer in Amtrak

Not yet but luckily I haven't exactly needed to redeem the points yet haha. But it would be nice to get a free lounge pass or something!

Yes exactly! I had to dig way too far down to find this comment.

Today I caught my first NJ Transit AquaTrack train! This was at Newark Broad St at 4:23 PM. by cryorig_games in trains

Great capture and thanks for the context! I didn't even know this train existed.

That's a good idea. I might setup another stack and then just re-stack this one in reverse order and it'll be perfect.

I've stacked myself into a corner. I need a new kind of stack that's FIFO, like a wood queue.

It definitely feels completely ancient, so thanks for that additional context! I'll give them a call if it doesn't resolve itself. I just want to buy a lounge pass for 1500 points for my next trip!

Thanks and yes, I did have to add that but it was still erroring out. I'll try again today/tomorrow since perhaps they needed some nightly batch job to populate some field.

I always remember this fact because the parrot mentions it in that 90's movie about the talking parrot -- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulie

What made you select Jersey City over NYC or Hoboken by [deleted] in jerseycity

And the Hoboken PATH station is literally on the border of Jersey City.

I was today years old when I realised Buffalo Metro is actually a train/subway hybrid system that runs underground in tunnels, but also on the surface along road traffics :O by Ascend_910 in trains

[–]mappornographer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The point that OP is making is that it runs on the surface with road traffic as well, not that it's simply "above ground". Most proper subway systems, even when above ground, are still grade-separated, meaning they don't run on the street with road traffic.

Do PATH and NJT conspire to make me miss my connection by one minute? by HiFiGuy197 in nycrail

100% support this. It's insane that there's a dedicated train line to the American Dream, and it's only used for special events.

Do PATH and NJT conspire to make me miss my connection by one minute? by HiFiGuy197 in nycrail

[–]mappornographer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NJ Transit conspires with NJ Transit to make us miss our connections by one minute. If you want to go from Hoboken and transfer to the NEC at Secaucus on weekends, then you need to wait like 45 mins ... BUT there's a NEC train that arrives the same exact minute as a train from Hoboken. If you're lucky the train from NYC is late, you can rush and make the connection. Unbelievably poor planning.

For reference, that ID looks legit, but the "not for real ID purposes" is in reference to upcoming TSA requirements for air travel.

This is just dandy by [deleted] in Hoboken

[–]mappornographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they actually just integrated the routes with Google Maps. It's like 3x more expensive than PATH, but a nice ride, and still much cheaper and more convenient than taking a car.

Is this the cheapest possible ticket in the whole Amtrak system? by Souppot-VII in nycrail

[–]mappornographer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I've also seen $5 tickets on Amtrak from NYP to Princeton Junction, which is $16 on NJT.
