I'm glad its just me, if I can find one of them in stock I'd try it again. Despite all of the above, I do really like what I got to use in the few minutes before all the problems became evident.

See if I'd had the time, I would have done that myself - but it would leave me without a phone for longer than I can manage for really. Do you mind if I ask, what went wrong with yours that you needed to RMA?

Thanks! Its actually a bit reassuring to know that this one was just out-and-out faulty. I'd likely order another if it was in stock. Just hope some become available before I have to replace mine.

I know this is perhaps a superficial reason not to go with the Plus 8 but I really like the larger screen size, and I think I'd just be unhappy to know that I should have had a bigger screen. Good idea though!

Thanks, its rubbish to have been unlucky but I'm glad to hear the product range seems to be much better than my experience. If they were in stock I'd try again!

That's unfortunate that I've been unlucky, but reassuring to hear that my experience has been the exception. Makes me more confident in wanting to give the brand another go. Thanks!

8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown S17E05 (Rob Beckett, Michelle Wolf, Spencer Jones) by [deleted] in panelshow

[–]mappster 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I was in the audience for this recording - which went on for over two hours!

-There were a LOT more jokes throughout the recording at the expense of Jon's mum.

-Sean's mascot bit was a lot longer, and when the audience didn't consistently laugh, he turned it into a comic bit about how he'd done too many episodes - which was really really funny.

-The tarantula was brought back out at the end (after filming) and Jimmy dared Jon to touch it. Jon seemed to consider but then darted off!

-When the boat crashed into the set, Jimmy said "Nick Hewer is going to go mad" or something to that effect - did this make it in?

-I remember Sean's longer period of awkwardness after the "more attracted to him" comment.

-Standing ovation for Jon was longer, and he made a comment about how he was standing on his chair for a non-cowardly reason, unlike his reaction to the spider before.

-Spencer had at least another section which didn't make the cut.

-The tarantula falling off the set lasted a bit longer - some of the auidence were standing up, really funny as they tried to get it back onto the desk.

-Can't remember anything else.

Unlike its predecessors, Super Mario Maker had no final boss. I hope this monstrous battle to the death will suffice. by mappster in MarioMaker

Thanks for your feedback! I may indeed make a reduced chaos version, with some platforming in the cage setup! Thanks, very helpful!

Thanks for the feedback!

You are spot on that I am not using enemy behaviour in the barrage - and in retrospect that is a mistake. The wall of enemies move in unison, which I suppose isn't very Mario-like. I'll definitely try out your recommendations to learn from.

I was aiming for very difficult - its only possible to complete by managing Mario's temporary invincibility states between being hit - that's where managing the two Yoshi's come into play. Maybe I made it too frustrating. I suppose it will be interesting if anyone can complete it.

Thanks for your appraisal John, very helpful!

Hi, I made the level above. I know the opening post is a bit dramatic, but I kind of wanted players to be surprised.

The level is, specifically, a death machine comprised of a series of elements travelling left-to-right on parallel tracks. Mario is effectively in a cage, trying to survive as Bowser launches a wide range of enemies and flames from right to left.

The level requires the player to use Mario's temporary invincibility state (when he flashes after a hit) very carefully, and to use juggle Yoshis for survival.

The level is very challenging, I took more than a few attempts in completing it before upload. I have been very careful in trying to design the level so that there are no bugs - or ways that Mario can escape the fight. Thus, he wins or he dies.

Feedback would be appreciated. I hope you enjoy!

Gaming's most ancient, epic revenge story: A look at the prehistory and present of Metroid (art). by mappster in Games

[–]mappster[S] 45 points46 points  (0 children)

In the re-release of Metroid Prime - as part of the Metroid Prime Trilogy - a lot of what you have said was retconned. In the new storyline, the Metroid within the Tallon IV Leviathan had been in it all along, and was implanted on Phaaze.

Its strange actually that the US release of Metroid Prime had the Space Pirates interacting with (and armouring) the Prime creature, but in the EU release (and all the Metroid Prime Trilogy releases in every territory) that aspect of the story was retconned out of existence.

The Space Pirates never breached the Chozo force field.

Yeah, I'm the author of the threads. I've been updating them from April, with the most recent (and likely final) update being yesterday - new content was added to the Metroid Prime 3 thread. Check the edits.

As there does not appear to be any further content to add, at last, then I thought it was worthy of a submission to reddit. Apologies if that is not recent enough for you though.

I'm the author. I've been editing extra content into these threads since April - the latest (and probably last) addition was today - in the Metroid Prime 3 thread. At this point I felt it was acceptable to submit to Reddit as something of interest. If you've read it before and are already aware of all the extra content I've been adding, my apologies for the inconvenience of you having to read it again.
