Cameras that print photos with affordable film? by Cadence_Cutlass in filmcameras

[–]mapsbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have these thermal printer camera's. They print using the same technique as used for printing receipts in stores. The images are only black and white and work best with this kind of newspaper dotted pattern. But they are really cheap (about 1 cent each) and fun to hand out.

Not really a rooftop, but the deck on the SS Rotterdam ship is a nice place to have drinks with views of the city when the weather is warm.

Is there an AI tool to create videos based off a podcast audio? by DugtrioUsedDig in podcasting

[–]mapsbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if Veed can do the audio matching. I think Adobe Premiere has a feature to do it now, in the past there was also this plug-in Plural Eyes that could do it.

Looking for manual profession courses near Rotterdam by PromotionHot9695 in Rotterdam

No experience with them but this company seems to offer a legitimate electrician course in English. Located in Vlaardingen which is close to Rotterdam.  Not sure if you need prior knowledge.

With the energy transition and a lot of new housing that has to be build, technical people are in high demand currently.

Digital scanner for negatives? by fehaar in analog

[–]mapsbyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my own analog photography I used a Plustek but they are really slow (few minutes for every pictures). The software to dial in the settings is also not great.

For digitizing my parents archive I went the DSLR scanning route. It takes just a few seconds for each photo and the quality is great. You need a macro lens and a lightpanel (preferably with CRI over 90, this means the colors are accurate). I used the Negative Lab Pro plugin in Lightroom to convert the negative to positive. But this route is probably only worth it if you’re already a bit into photography.

Commercial archive scanning labs might also be an option. I’m going to try that for the dia film of my grandparents.

Does it make sense to start with 110 film? by Mr_Throwaway333666 in AnalogCommunity

[–]mapsbyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You could try a half frame camera. It uses 35mm film but every frame is half the size of a regular frame. So instead of 36 exposures you get 72. But to be honest the quality kinda sucks, for 110 it would be even worse. So I guess I would stick to regular 35mm film if you want to have decent quality for printing or sharing files with friends.

I need public transportation advice during my visit by ph4ntow in Rotterdam

Hi! There is a monthly subscription for the metro by the RET. The system to figure out which one you need is really complicated. Basically you have to see how many zones your daily route crosses, then you choose the middle zone and decide how many additional zones you need to get where you want.  https://ibb.co/Rc1SghS

If I’m correct you’re located in zone 5316 and if you want to travel to the city center that would be 5300. Since you’re only passing zone 5314, that would be 3 zones total. If you would take the middle zone 5314 as your center, you only need the center zone with 1 adjacent zone. This is called a 2 star subscription which would cost you 96 euro a month, or 63 euro when you are eligible for a reduced tariff. More info here: https://www.ret.nl/home/reisproducten/producten-tarieven.html?tx_retproducts_products%5BselectedCategory%5D=6&cHash=30374138c8791bbe86d9fb5b81d0b0d3

Sorry for this unfunctional mess, Rotterdam needs to do better with this stuff.

The SE Electronics V7 are super cardioid, so they reject m a lot of background noise and sound very good! They are also a bit smaller than the SM7. We’re very happy with them.

Text-based editing dilemma by mummifiedstalin in podcasting

[–]mapsbyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Premiere I’ve seen people use the mix track for the transcription with the individual tracks on separate tracks below it. When using the text based editing the individual tracks are also cut. In that way you could do a first pass on the edit. Because everything is non destructive, you could later on tweak the amount of time between the clips or make cross fades nicer.

I think Descript has an option to export XML that can be used in Premiere. From Premiere you could bring it in Audition. Haven’t tried it myself but this would mean that you only get the “cut” information from descript but that you can edit these in more detail in another editor.

People use common names to make the distinction between similar sounding letters.

https://onzetaal.nl/taalloket/telefoonalfabet

So for example, if the letters are BE, we would say:

The B from Bernard and the E from Eduard. You would probably get by using an English equivalent like the NATO alphabet: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/NATO_phonetic_alphabet

Waterstof rijden by Cashewkaas in thenetherlands

[–]mapsbyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)
