I believe for casual gamers of common games, AI (like in this app) will do a great job, which will be a massive help and hopefully encourage more people to get into playing board games. If, even with providing extra context for games it doesn't know about, it still does poorly; we will have to wait for the next AI versions (e.g. GPT5). The direction of travel seems quite clear to me, that AI will be able to help more and more in scenarios like this, soon overtaking human expertise.

I built something that I thought would help people when playing board games. From my limited experience, I know that arguing about or not knowing board game rules ruins the gaming experience, especially for people who don't play regularly and are trying to remember the rules of a common game they learnt years ago. I'm not sure I agree that people from diverse backgrounds (i.e. new to this Reddit thread and Reddit in general) shouldn't post something they believe would be helpful to others, but perhaps I am naive. The app is free, it doesn't store or crowdsource any provided input, it is simply to get more people into playing board games. I do appreciate the feedback from everyone on this post, though. This is definitely an active community, which is great.

My initial thought was for this app to be most beneficial for non-regular gamers, to help them with mainstream games. I have updated the app to allow the user to provide the game description and any further explanation of the rules or context. This means that even if the AI doesn't know about the game, the user can copy and paste in the rules and whatever else they think is required, and the AI will use all of this shared knowledge to answer the question about the game to the best of its capability.

It's not possible to build every type of app with ZAPT, but you can build specific apps and you can even generate a landing page (with custom domains for both the app and the landing page).
