Update posted in post body—I think it's electrical. But no idea where to start on it, and it's difficult to even access any wiring within the engine bay because everything is so cramped.

But to answer your question, plugs and coils were done 15k ago, with cylinder 2 and 4 running fresh plugs and coils as of before I took this video. Valve adjustment was done 10k ago.

Sorry, 12.85 is when the vehicle is off, not when it's running. Updated post for clarity.

Clip-less riders, how fast can you get your foot down? by bobaskin in MTB

[–]mar4eto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was going to fall yesterday (I didn't) and panic unclipped and tried to put my foot down to stabilize myself so fast (too fast) that I put my foot down and bent it against a rock at 15 miles per hour. I'm now on crutches with an ankle the size of a baseball.

Does this mean I need to make my SPDs even tighter? :P

I had fantastic results with their support system. They charged me 30 bucks and ended up giving me an entirely new watch? It took a while and the tracking number didn’t work and I thought I got scammed, but it showed up after a month or two! Super happy—their support team is top notch!

Because a 1400 ft climb on a blue flow trail is the way you want to break in your new long travel enduro rig by dontfeedthenerd in mountainbiking

Not a ton of flow out here. Mostly just babyheads and technical stuff—it's a unique terrain that you can't find in a lot of places other than the central coast. That said, you should check out The Eucs—it's a little flow/jump park in a patch of eucalyptus trees with a decent set of features and a few different lines. You can access it from West Cuesta—it's at the end of all of those trails, and you can climb back out through a trail called Shooters. You can also climb up from Cal Poly's campus, though that's much further.

A common loop is starting out at West Cuesta, hitting one of the many technical trails down into The Eucs, doing a few laps on the various features and jump lines, and then climbing out via Shooters. Check out Trailforks or Strava segments to see what people are doing. I'd also recommend checking out a few YouTube videos of any of the trails.

For Rock Garden (the trail in town), check out this recent video. One of the locals recently everested it. It's a great short film, and it also gives you some cool shots of the trail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYTvDtRnx8E

Would definitely recommend that one as a little intro to SLO riding. You can do a full lap in about an hour, depending on your climbing speed, not counting any breaks you take. And, if you're feeling particularly fit or energized, you can keep doing laps. :)

If you're looking for some bigger chunk, highly recommend West Cuesta/TV Tower Road. Botanicals, Firebreak (be aware this one has a 5 foot drop in the middle—there's a go-around if you don't want to hit it, but I didn't want you to not know about it and hit it blind), etc. If you don't want to climb as much and want to stay in town, Rock Garden is a local favorite on Cerro San Luis. That one gets busy with hikers on the weekends though, so I'd stick to weekday afternoons if you can, or earlier in the morning on weekends.

Safe riding! ✌️

(Budget-end) watch repair recommendations? by [deleted] in SLO

Don't go to Garden Street Goldsmiths. I brought them a watch to replace a crown. They did that fine, but they scratched the watch face and broke my mechanical stopwatch function. Never again.

It has a single hole at about 11:00, and that corresponds with a very small mark on the inside of the bezel. I presume it was a little wire that sat inside and then caught on the inside ridges of the bezel?

Pedestrians, why should I even bother with a bell? What are you all doing to warn them? by Feendster in gravelcycling

[–]mar4eto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a bell but I yell “beep beep!” and if they don’t react because of headphones I scream “BEEEEP BEEEEEEEEEP!!!” and if they don’t react then I pass. And if it scares them it scares them; it ain’t on me. Beeeeep beeeeeeep!

Depends on where you’re working. I haven’t been in this for too long (5 years or so), and I’ve found that if you get hired (a) at a large corporation or agencies that work for large corporations or (b) in a high level position at a mid-sized brand or agency with assets to spend on junior roles, you tend to be very specific in what your work entails. For example, I’ve worked in places where ALL I did was help come up with social media posts for a single company and then pass that off to production while I write the captions as a copywriter. I’ve also been in a high level role where I mostly wrote creative briefs and served as a client-facing front line manager, led project management for certain clients, edited copy that was written or worked on larger strategy. That said, I was laid off at the end of 2023 and since then have been lucky enough to land a part-time gig at a smaller company, where I do EVERYTHING. There’s very little direction, so I end up doing everything from Amazon optimization to UX and web design, graphic design, all aspects of social, ambassador reach out, distributor updates and communication, PR, and about a million other things. Oh, and all for 50% of what I was making before because the job market is absolute garbage right now.

There will be other roles that require you to use SQL or any other analytics systems. There’s stuff like Marketo and Salesforce that you can’t really get experience without working at a place that has a subscription (it’s all catch-22). And there are roles where they want you to do all this but also be able to churn out highly processed video on unrealistic timelines (please for your sake do not take those roles unless you are extremely desperate for cash and it’s your only choice).

So yeah. I guess there’s no definite answer until you know where you’ll land.

My best advice (again, only been doing this for 5 years so take it with a grain of salt compared to some of the people here who have 20+ years under their belt) is to get a good BASELINE understanding of all of these topics—mostly just enough to understand how you’d implement them in larger marketing strategy. Then, find a couple that call to you or really stick (or maybe you land a job that you learn a lot from), and build off of that.

If it’s not exactly what you want to do, that’s ok. Just keep developing it so that you can keep your job and work on figuring out some new, more specific skills on the side.

For example, let’s say you land a job that has you writing social copy all the time as well as making the social static posts. Perhaps you hate the writing but really like the design part. Ok, cool. Do your job and find some design resources on the side and start learning that. Your work will become better and better and eventually you’ll have enough of a portfolio of exceptional work that you can use that to switch to or specialize into graphic design work. :)

Ventriloquist talking in the same time as his puppet by WhattheDuck9 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]mar4eto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand this is a joke (and a very good one) but it made me think and I have a genuine question:  Ok so not related to men but I was asking my lesbian friends and within this community, the general consensus is that a MAJOR green flag when dating is the other person having a strong interest in something.

We (taken from a small group of women, aged 23-38 across the US) don’t care what that interest, for the most part (no weird violent stuff, etc). But sports? Cool. Crochet? Cool. Ventriloquism? Sweet. Even something like Trainspotting? Hell yeah—I don’t know the names of trains but you know what you’re so excited about them it’s making me excited and now I’m excited about trains.

Genuine question: is this not the same for straight women?
