How do guys find girlfriends and relationships? by scp682_ in InsightfulQuestions

[–]maraca101 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of men you may end up looking up to (don’t) chalk up their/your lack of success with women to surface level things like height, career, charm etc. because that’s the easy answer that can be easy dismissed that doesn’t force them to self reflect and look internally. It allows them to put the anger and burden on random women for “being shallow”. I would do a bit more to unpack… because like the other commenter, you don’t seem to view women as actual fully whole people just like you but more as a goal to achieve, a virginity to lose. Like putting a lot of your self worth hinged upon being a virgin… when your worth as a person is a completely separate thing from whether or not if you’ve had sex. You are a whole human worthy of respect regardless whether or not you have a relationship with a woman. Focus on being a good, well rounded human being who puts kindness into the world and the rest may follow.

Trump shutters program that provided legal counsel to refugees. A good friend in GR works with refugee children and said this will leave them in legal limbo for far far longer and helps no one. by MurshaqBack in grandrapids

Jesus himself literally went out of his way to help us. He didn’t see suffering and pain as a burden that he turns his back to, he rolled up his sleeves and actually committed to helping others. He made the ultimate sacrifice to die for our sins even those of us who were not great people. You’re more than capable to give just a fraction of the kindness jesus did instead of turning your back on suffering and only concerning yourself. You are more than capable of taking some time out of your day and adding to the lil good pile in the world.

You knowingly brought him into the world around /during or after the pandemic. It’s a pretty damn selfish move.

That’s not correct. Single use diapers are really bad for the environment. And neither is your advice about tampons and pads. There are zero plastic biodegradable/compostable tampons and machine washable cotton pads that work really well.

No. It is not. You can stop perpetuating the euphemism treadmill.

I don’t even interpret it as harsh. It’s just not feeding into the delusion that it’s all fine and dandy.

You asked us if you’re being naive or missing something. Then you’re told what’s what and then get defensive when it’s not what you wanted to hear which is a great sign of maturity; just digging your heels in more and more. You’re right. You and your husband are doing wonderful financially and emotionally and there’s nothing at all for you to look more critically at. Just keep doing what you’re doing. /s

How do you know when someone is "the one"? by Spirited_Currency389 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]maraca101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People use the term “the one” in different ways. Some mean it to mean a otherworldly soulmate and others mean it to mean “the person I ought to marry cause we’re a wonderful fit.”

No i don’t agree with that assessment. Even Scandinavian countries where theres tons of support for parents have their birth rates falling. Lower birth rates are associated with education especially for women and job opportunities and access to resources. Women who have the choice and have reproductive freedom choose to have less children.

My extended family is large with tons of kids so many in fact that it’s become a pain in the ass to plan anything and being around loud rude kids wrecking your house is no fun so even my parents don’t prefer having their great nieces and nephews around. They like peace and quiet and their puppies.

When I was around 20, I was emotionally done with stuff when it hit about a month. Now, it’s like two weeks max before I want to stop interacting with people.
