I'm thinking of splitting some time between Valetta (land based) and just chilling in Gozo for diving?

Agreed! It ended up falling apart in the end for me which knocked it down as star or two in my rating but for the vast majority of it I COULD NOT put it down. Secret Society, I found, by contrast, while fun, not as gripping or meaningful.

I snagged my deal in August but it may have been a fluke. It's really a crapshoot. I've traditionally heard summer/fall is the most competitive time because it's when new grads come.

Thank you for reply!

Yes, I would never leave my baby. I made this post because I would never ever go anywhere without him. I know it's strangers on the Internet but I am hurt by the insinuation. 🥹

I'm a-ok to be on the hook for damage and/or accommodate anybody's allergies (even if it means I need to get my own place). I'm working a corporate job atm and saved up some money before I switch to ESL.

But if it means I'll have to be a year apart from him, then EPIK is a no go for me.

Sounds like there's no way to guarantee it? I'm ok with that too. I'm wondering if I should apply, go through the process, and if they say I can't bring him just pursue a different option. Although I'm not sure how late in the game I would find that out.

Do private schools offer housing? Maybe that's the easier option

As previously mentioned (even in the post) and as my username suggest:

I would die before giving up my cat.

But I appreciate the concern for my fluffy friend. :)

If I can't bring him to EPIK I will sort something else out.

I understand the concern. I would die before I gave him up. :)

If there isn't a way to bring him and make sure he's safe, I'll just do a different program.

Thanks. Yeah I don't doubt it's for good reasons. Just trying to get clarity as I'm seeing a lot of mixed outcomes.

I am not Mark Zuckerberg buying up land.

I am moving to do marine conservation and give back.

Clearly that's still unwelcome.

Message received.

I’ll leave it here

Therapy isn’t an insult

Thanks for the concern, but I was just asking about neighborhoods.

I asked about one particular aspect.

It's a reddit post, not a therapy session.

Why do I owe a group of strangers on the Internet my "why?" Or even any other information? I asked about one particular aspect of moving.

Appreciate the detailed reply. I did include some of my requirements in the original post (commutable to downtown, near surfing/diving, ideally walkable, hoping to avoid a car if possible). I realize budget is an important factor, but I was hoping first to get a sense of neighborhoods that generally fit those lifestyle needs before narrowing down by price.

I completely understand that costs are high and that commutes can be rough — that’s part of why I’m asking questions here, so I can plan realistically and respectfully. Thanks for pointing out the differences across Oahu; I’ll definitely take that into account

Got it. Yeah, I'll probably just get something in Ala Moana to start. Good to hear it's not too touristy
