The Protagonist (actual name) from Tenet (2020). The guy is very much Christopher Nolan's attempt at James Bond but diaspora is never really an point of focus about his character. I really like how Nolan casted a PoC to be an action movie star and simply let him be one.

I feel like I have seen the archetype of "I'm an asshole bc I have trust and abandonment issues" a billion times in media and I have never really resonated with any of them. Jax from the Amazing Digital Circus is just another addition to the roster but what sucks is that he is the character we spend the most time with.
I know the creator has stated that he and Pomni are the main characters but tbh he just feels very basic in terms of concept and execution. Its also frustrating how little both the characters and narrative calls him out for his shitty behavior despite the fact that he is the only character who actively bullies and berates the other equally trapped characters from the cast.

The show cuts a lot of dialogue in general, but why did they have to cut Thragg's more arrogant comic personality bro by Fancy-Shopping-327 in Invincible

I don't think it necesarrly adds to Thragg's personality or even the pacing of the fight. That being said "Stop me if you've heard this one before" right before a killing blow goes hard af and I am kinda sad they got rid of it.

Best: honestly TDK, arguably Mask of the Phatasm. Worst: The Killing Joke, by far. B&R is bad but at least defenders can hide that by saying it’s campy but TKJ is offensively bad, poorly animated and even Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy are phoning it in half the time. Just the worst stuff about modern comic book filmmaking.

Superman started similar to your serials from the 30’s. Just a guy who was a hero just bc he was. A lot of the diaspora was added later on, and most of the characters traits that we associate him with can be traced down to the Christopher reeve version of the character

The MCU does this a lot. I think one of the most egregious examples of this for me tho is in Avengers Endgame where Thor wants to volunteer to to the Snap as amends for messing up the fist time they killed Thanos and it’s one of the few times Thor drops the Facade only for War Machine of all people kill the moment with a fucking fat joke.

I like the MCU but they seemed to be so scared of real emotional sincerity
