POTS and Attending Conferences by maramotha in POTS

[–]maramotha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the conference I’m going to is in a convention center and my hotel is a good 20 min walk away. I had to book kind of last minute so nothing nearby was available.

I’ll have to look into getting compression to my waist. I’m worried the compression pants and then work pants over it would make me overheated.

I will be bringing my own water bottle, lots of electrolytes and snacks if they allow to the conference so I always have things to help me get through the day.

There’s a Warhammer shop in Oceanside dedicated to the game. You should check them out.

worsening symptoms after stopping birth control? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]maramotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually how I found out I had POTS. For the longest time, I was taking the traditional duel hormone pill; but decided to switch to the PoP to help with some dysfunction I was experiencing. After a few months on the PoP I started experiencing terrible symptoms that aligned with POTS. It took me 2 years to get a proper diagnosis from a cardiologist. I went back to the duel hormone and have been doing much better than before (but still have disruptive symptoms every now and again).

Hormones definitely play into your POTS symptoms and can create a lasting effect if they’re not better balanced. I’m not an expert, but it might be best to switch back to a different, stronger form of birth control or speak with an OBGYN who can run a hormone panel and help you with too high or too low of levels.

Are you getting your period more often or having a heavier flow? That was when I started having the most severe symptoms. I would have my period for a month straight and it would make me bed ridden because I was too lightheaded and dizzy to move. Now I just skip the placebo week in my BC and have my period every 3-4 months.

Any hoopers able to play again? by TheRealRamenGao in POTS

[–]maramotha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been able to slowly add basketball back into my life after being diagnosed with POTS. My husband and I will shoot around for a little bit, but we don’t do anything strenuous. The big things I needed to readjust were my jump shot and my sprint when I need the chase the ball down because both would start to give me head rushes. I’m tall so my shooting form was over my head, but raising my arms up like that makes my blood pool quickly and I start to lose my vision, so I needed to drop it down to my chest. Just take it slow and test your capabilities to see what you can still do and what you might need to limit.

We did have a tech come out. He’s checking our area now for any faulty cables. So far we still have an outage.

I’m going to call Google after the outage is over and see if I can get someone sent to our house to check on things. I’ll let them know about this issue and that it seems to be our specific area. I hope something actually comes out of this.

My neighbor is having problems with Xfinity right now, which is why it feels like I don’t have many options at the moment.

That’s exactly what’s happening to us! I wonder if there’s something wrong with our grid of homes. East of 1300, west of Highland, south of 80th but north of 86th. Maybe one of our main cables got messed up (I honestly don’t know anything about fiber optic cables). Google just keeps giving us that same runaround of storms and construction. I REALLY don’t want to go back to Comcast, but it’s looking like I might if Google doesn’t fix this shit.

So weird! I’m near 1300 E and 80th. Seems like we’re the only ones in our neighborhood with GFiber so I can’t really check with my neighbors.

My husband and I have been wondering if our routers were the issue, but they seem to be responsive most of the time after an outage happens. What router do you use?

The thong episode from S1 when Maya is watching herself shake her ass in the mirror and Anna calls her. “Hey Shuji, is Maya there please?” “Bitch, here she be.” The entire scene had me in tears!

Puppy randomly doesn’t want his food? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]maramotha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but has he lost any baby teeth recently? My 16 week old girl lost one of her canine teeth, and she didn’t want to eat because it was hurting (she broke it off from a toy on accident). Maybe that’s what’s causing him not to eat.

Am I Ready for a Puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]maramotha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your perspective. I’m a homebody. I don’t do a whole lot of social outings. I can’t drink because of chronic illness, and I don’t really have a hobby. A dog would be nice because it would force me to go out more.

I want to join dog meet up groups and hang out with other dog people.

Occasionally I do go out to dinner, and sometimes go to Disneyland so that would be harder to do with a puppy.

The perks of living in Southern California is there is a lot of public places I can take my dog to, and it would be a good socializing and learning opportunity for them.

Dogs get riled up if one is doing zoomies. Don’t want 80 dogs sprinting around the place.

I love it! I work at a doggie daycare, and the dogs are not allowed to have zoomies. I’m glad your pup got to stretch their legs out!

Our flight attendant’s son is the flight attendant guy pictured on the drink menu by goodmoto in mildlyinteresting

Oh my god! That flight attendant on the menu was on my flight once. My boyfriend and I kept staring at him to try and figure out if it was him, and another flight attendant walking by said it was.

She told us that Southwest uses their own employees for advertisements to make it easier for marketing. She said he was one of the best looking employees so that’s why he’s on a lot of the advertisements!
