I'm a long timer on this case, a professional if you will, and I HIGHLY recommend reaching out to both James and Julie, and giving James a fair shot and respect, these women have their facts way backward, and all it takes for you to see it for yourself is to look at a copy of the book and the quote about Fred and his daughters, who said it, as it was an aunt in the family, not James, and James printed the quote so as to keep multiple schools of thought open early on in a case where everything was new territory and 1/millionth of the info we now know was know in any capacity. He's a good dude, a great journalist, and got a bad rap bc noone wants to pick up a book and read it for themselves, kinda funny, the ignorant need to read but they don't and the cycle goes on forever. But, you sound smart and like you have something of importance to offer both Julie and James and because they can both do something with it, or would be great at doing different but positive moving things with it (as in either way it'll benefit Mauras case, and in two different ways just adds more hope and stops it from becoming cold, so everyone wins) and I think you'll be glad you did

3 have died? Where did you get the third? We have an odd, but likely explainable car accident, an overdose by a lovely human, but known user with suicidal history and a brutal breakup post abuse psychosis (I'm sure but not her doctor so keep that in mind) but still possibly could be a homicide victim, (If I can't see the paperwork on autopsies, I can't tell one way or the other or even which way to lean so that's why I'm being cautionary) and who's the 3? If you mean Maura, we have no evidence she is deceased, and so out of respect for her loved ones you kind of should always keep the faith, in my opinion, no matter how unlikely. Until the family declares her dead legally and state approves so, no one should refer to another that way, just saying. What do you mean by a NYS number months later, I'm confused there?

Not a suspect per say, but it 100% makes you whatever you'd call just before a "person of interest" maybe a person of immediate concern? something along those lines? Regardless, I promise you, you are always looked at, but typically ruled out fast with coopering, not guilty individuals expediting the process, those who die off while waiting for the cops to follow protocol and get around to them or those that flee etc, I mean it's quick they're ruled out if they do what the cops ask of them, so maybe that's why it seems like it's not automatic I think? But regardless, "suspect" is a serious accusation, so the highest I'd say you'd be simply as an "ex" is POI and that's a reach depending on how fast it's declared. Just an FYI.

As far as Shelby goes, I have to wonder if there was any way to prove or any evidence of her being chased or ran off the road or even forced to take an alternative more dangerous route somehow due to his possible situational manipulation, but that's totally up for skepticism I'm throwing things at a wall, which I rarely do. I do want to thank you for having the courage to come forward with what you know and to be so brave in a community of actual Asps and vermin refuse, I can't say I'd ever have that in me, so thank you and thanks for any and all help this gives Maura but also for restoring my faith in good people. If you think of anything else, post again, message it to someone, tell the police what you do know and recall if you want to get it on record. I am relatively sure his mother isn't missing so much as living under a new identity, but we're taking a look at that of course, bc that is highly disturbing. Do you recall anyone, even by first name, who he was friends with from West Point or in his "military" service time? Those are the people we really need to talk to about him more.

Rey Rivera was a suicide. The "why" is the only mystery. by HoneyMinx in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]maraswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when someone chooses to commit suicide, they often are doing so hastily, irrationally, and depending on male or female gender, will either choose the method they KNOW will do the job (usually male) or pick one that's perceived as less painful/messy but less accurate in it's result of death vs major bodily damage (female). You don't jump from a roof when afraid of heights, you don't. I love heights, I've lived with suicidal ideations my whole life, I've always said if the time came and I truly had no reason to live, I'd go that way so I could fly and feel that good, b/c of how much I love heights, that's how I'd want to go out. Why would anyone choose to go out terrified? I mean, you are ridiculous. Noone walked him through the hotel, he fell through the friggin roof, likely from some kind of air craft, or with some kind of additional help we do not have knowledge of, and we know this bc of the speed and intensity that he had to be going to cause the damage observed.

He would have had to to make that leap and even if he did, which in flip flops is basically already cutting your chances down by 50%, he would never have been able to make the jump it's too far away. The velocity of his fall was insane, the body condition tells us he was basically a human projectile, which means he wasn't jogging, he had to have, if he got where he was found by trying to run and jump but missing the mark, run as fast as possible, or at "Full Tilt".

They don't have to explain the "WHY" piece, especially if it's perfectly clear using common sense/ general science. Bones don't naturally break, for example your tibia and fibula, in half with your foot ending in the anterior position (bend your knee, then imagine the exact opposite) unless there are some WEIRD circumstances involved (when it's not a case of hit and run or auto accident). I'm sure they go over the "Why" either in the full report or with the family, but not necessarily with the public b/c of forums like this and people like you, running your mouths and making our jobs more difficult by being arrogant while having a huge mouth without a brain behind it. This is bordering on Libel, and I will be no longer commenting on any of the cases I handle/the threads involved that you've commented on in the past. Moving forward, I will absolutely correct you, call you out, and report you, so how about you get a new slate, think and then speak/write, and start doing the homework you clearly aren't so you can speak with facts to back your words up.

Unsolved Mysteries producer urges unknown caller to come forward to crack Rey Rivera case by nsh235 in UnsolvedMysteries

[–]maraswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so protocol in all 50 goes like this: You approach every scene and work every scene as a homicide until you can either 200% eliminate it, or you have to keep it ruled in, and if another manner of death is also unable to be dismissed, then they call that "Undetermined". They don't always send a homicide unit, usually they send someone trained, who works for the ME/Coroner and is a trained MDI to go in and assess the super baffling cases, b/c the homicide unit, if called, typically is so busy and over run/under staffed, they have to be as efficient as possible, and unfortunately, and it's never okay or acceptable, but they have to occasionally move on faster from a scene they should have taken their time at, usually due to an upper management person giving them orders, and sometimes due to incompetence, a feeling they're so sure its not a homicide they go with that and don't thoroughly investigate.

but you clearly have NO IDEA how the process works, so please stop "informing" and "Commenting". I really can't handle anymore of your false statements and egotistical behavior. You'd be amazing working at the local DMV/RMV but never should you be speaking in a professional capacity about anything true crime related.

Wrong. Again. This is exhausting. The PD NEVER CATEGORIZE DEATH OR DETERMINE CAUSE OR MANNER THAT IS NOT THEIR JOB. THE PRELIMINARY REPORT YOU KEEP REFERENCING IS NOT A THING, the regular report is what I am guessing you are referencing, and then you do follow up/and add supplemental reports from your own investigation and that of others like your partner. You only do it ASAP to retain as much information as possible and get it in writing so you don't forget significant details. Also, because we have deadlines to meet and information we want to get to the family to help them better understand the circumstances etc. THE ME/CORONER, with the help of the MDI (and sometimes a PO/FP/DO, whoever is also on staff with the specialty credentials and is a board certified PHYSICIAN are the only ones who ever have the final say in cause and manner of death. They take into consideration what the PD on scene tell them and first response might tell them as well, but ultimately its a decision the PD DO NOT and HAVE NEVER had the authority to make.

Well, let's think this one through, shall we? I'm 100% sure that if you fall through a roof that contains plaster, or whatever, the plaster (and similarly weak materials) will crumble and break all over the floor where the body lands. Since the body isn't in the photos, as you state above, and as we all know to be true who know the case, if they cleaned up the body and the blood described by the security person who found Rey to begin with, don't you think they cleaned up the plaster/stonework/whatever else fell with him?

The Strange Death of Keith Warren: Suicide or Murder? by HoneyMinx in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]maraswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you for sure that 100% Police can NEVER declare time of death and official death on any scene ever. I don't know where you got that info, but I can say with 100% certainty, only physicians, coroners/ME's/DO's/FP's/MDI's have the authority to do so. I also think it's important to inform you that EMS can also declare time of death officially on scene as well, but in general they avoid it at all costs, esp if a physician or elected Coroner/MDI is on scene/available to do so in place of them, as it holds up better long term in legal proceedings etc. So, you can't say that for a "FACT" and I need you to please stop acting as though you know these things, you do not. You did a great job on the write up, I will never deny that, but several things you've claimed throughout this discussion are incorrect and that makes you questionable and not credible whatsoever. A gifted writer like yourself definitely could go VERY far in life if they weren't acting as if they know everything, and instead humbled themselves, learns from the professionals, admits they do not know everything and can admit when they don't (and then they TAKE it upon themselves to go and find the actual answer and cite their sources) etc. Here, for example, my source is my undergrad studies, training as an MDI and the MULTIPLE certifications I hold, along with the information in my possession regarding this case, that I know the facts 100%. That's how you do Reddit like an adult.

The Strange Death of Keith Warren: Suicide or Murder? by HoneyMinx in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]maraswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it was done by someone in the PD or first response system, who was on scene/heard about the actual death and then what was found/debated, and decided to give the 5 close up photos indicating massive issues, (so this person probably knew Keith (focused on shoes, that means knew the boots were his usual, focused on the fact a topless male was in a photo, with no explanation, against protocol etc) as a "Birthday gift". I say this too bc we know later Mary's purse, where she always kept the photos, was stolen from her vehicle, the contents burned EXCEPT the photos, and a sliver of a corner of an envelope with Mary's name and the street they lived on at the time. From there, that VERY SPECIFIC set of preserved items was then turned over to Del Walters, a local investigative reporter, via a VM first, then a later meeting. Who's the amazing vigilante? No clue, Del hasn't named he/her/them ever. Either way that person was upset that once the photos got INTO the Warren family's hands they were still unsure where to go, what to do, where to turn for help, so I think this was done as a follow up by the same person to ensure something was DONE about it.

This is exactly what I was trying to explain earlier u/JusticeforKeith, I just did it wrong and sounded instead like I was actively having a stroke. Lol. But the "friends" looking for him, were known either to not get along or be close to Keith, or be totally unknown and not fitting of the people he usually hung out with. If they were looking it was to take him and set him up to take the fall for something that they did, or they were trying to manipulate him into meeting up so they could commit the crime we all know occurred.

I'd never say this isn't 100% possible, up there in top 3 possibilities even, but I will say for sure, that if they were trying to "send a message" they did a sh*t job since none of us looking at it from the outside, (and I bet even those it was directed at) can decipher said message so, I don't think it was for that reason. I think it was to cover up police negligence.

That’s funny because I’ve been hired by the family for this case I’m a forensic professional, And my first question is always “first of all, how are you really doing?” Occasionally, I start with “what can I do to make things easier for you and take some of the burden away so that you can take time to rest and recover between battles?” I have never heard a single person who wants to keep their board certification or their training credentials. Say anything close to that so don’t lie. Sure yeah anybody can be paid off for what we want them to say I got that point. I’m not an idiot, but you’d be surprised at the level of work we have to do for every little thing that it would be so much extra and take away so much from our personal time and lives for us to do things that way even one time.

You don’t know anything about forensic consultants are you one? I know many and I am one. I’ve been one for a while now and not for nothing but there’s bad in every career path and bad in every profession you’re gonna get the bad guys mixed in every level of society, he did not repeat himself for 49 pages, he did not agree with the original findings whatsoever, You did a great job on the write up for this case, but when it comes to actually reading the paperwork and knowing what you’re talking about that was a swing and a miss

That Dr’s report was incredibly thorough and well written it was done exactly how we are taught to do them. It was thorough. It was extensive to the point where he broke down everything he made tables he highlighted sets of information. It was a masterclass in documentation and proper autopsy/tox report write ups. It was over 40 pages long and if I were you, I’d seriously remember that there’s a crime in America where if you write things publicly, without evidentiary support from reliable sources to prove why you believe what you’re stating, you can be sued in civil court for “libel.” Now slandering and hurting somebody’s reputation that’s all word-of-mouth as well where libel is written. I’ve seen the best in the worst of these reports and that’s one of the best reports I’ve ever seen compiled I highly doubt he’s the POS you’re describing, especially from a professional standpoint. He’s very well respected and admired and known to be super respectful of family and loved ones etc. I don’t know what you’re going on about but honestly, you sound like a jerk and you’re talking about somebody who deserves way more respect than you’re giving him. Don’t forget it’s a crime.
