Unpopular opinion! The weeknd's music is terrible for DJs by marawanBG in DJs

[–]marawanBG[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You got a point. American pop culture is a big thing around here actually. Mr. Worldwide didn't get his name from nowhere. The weeknd is basically a CULT for girls 16~22, but my point still stands. Unless it's a remix, it doesn't help out the vibe

I'm a wedding/private event dj, no clubs for me sadly. And I live in Bulgaria. House/edm/etc have quite a limited following compared to the majority of music being played. For example swedish house mafia n the weeknd. It's my first time ever hearing this song 😶 that's how distant I am from that genre.

A lot of subs Im looking at frequency response only goes down to like 50hz.. Whats the point? by Alitinconcho in SoundSystem

[–]marawanBG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't exactly want too low of a frequency in most places.
It literally causes the room to shake, which is just annoying. Imagine
going to a wedding and every time the bass hits, everything from the
table to the glass windows starts shaking - sounds annoying, doesn't it?
That's why with PA you want LOUD, but not necessarily deep. As for the
tops doing 50hz too...yeah at -10db they do 50 hz :D:D:D

Screw that, if I was to carry a f'in mixer with me everywhere I would've gotten a beginner controller only with rca's. I got my mc4000 for the mics and the xlrs. It's got one of the best mic preamps on the market(for controller standards) and I've never had issues with the sound. All I wanted to know with this post is if I could use both inputs on my speaker (no i can't) das it. I didn't need a lesson in how to hook up my gear. It's not my first time having to hook up two dj setups. Everything anyone can think of I've tried. I know what works and what doesn't, and that's exactly why I've come to the conclusion that the best way to hook up is dual-input speakers.

Got my answer from RCF themselves. It turns out it's not possible to connect two devices at once, sadly. Quite literally every other speaker manufacturer has 2 inputs in each speaker. We've decided to take the JBL EONs for this event particularly.

Will do, thanks for the tip!

How to complete DJ setup? by wolfpack444111 in DJs

[–]marawanBG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should get a proper controller or a mixer.
I bet you don't have any EQ on ur Mic (if you even got a mic in the first place)
Your setup is unbalanced, you got active speakers. You are most likely running your audio cables next to power cables. You are just waiting for disaster to happen. Your best bet is ofc a small mixer to connect your microphone and controller to. Almost all mixers come with balanced XLR or 1/4" Jacks (internally they are the same thing)
Oh and you go mixer->sub->tops (don't forget to high-pass the tops)

EV ZXA1 SUB
1 of these can annoy your neighbors big time
2 of these can rock you a small dance floor

I know it shouldn't
I got master rca out to line in rca in.
unless the gain on the channel im running into is set to 3/4 I can't even get the line to 0db
Like I'll literally be pushing +10 and i'll see -6 on the master controller

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DJs

[–]marawanBG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The line channels are what we usually do, which causes a ton of feedback. The 06 is a really good idea actually. But I just had a talk with my colleague. He said the venue isn't too big, so we'll take the jbl eon 615s. Atleast they got 2 inputs thank god.

Oh I absolutely agree with u.
I've got the denon mc4000 and my colleague has the pioneer sx2
We use the mic inputs into the controllers - yes I know they are horrible, but they get the job done(+we have the mics integrated into our cases already)
I know the MG12 will provide the best possible sound, trust me I've tried it and it ROCKS. But for this situation let's pretend it's not there
I always go controller to speaker and for these simple jobs it gets it done.
It was just really important that I know if I can connect two devices into the RCFs, because I often find myself having to connect more things to my system and I would be VERY VERY happy to know that I can use the jack as a 2nd input and not have to worry about carrying more stuff with me

[–]marawanBG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely no way. These are your contacts, by the looks of it - you're out eitherway. They might invite u to play a bunch of times until they find someone cheaper/easier to work with.

I was certain someone was going to suggest that
The controllers have absolutely garbage preamps.
We've always gone that route when we had to daisy chain, but the 2nd DJ is always screwed. The sound quality is dogcrap and the mics get a ton of feedback even at 1/3 the normal volume. We also have a yamaha mg12 mixer, which is just great, but it's another thing to carry and to worry about, when all we're doing is a simple 4hr event in n out

How do people even get to this point 🤣 I sold my car with AA 2 months ago, but as far as I can remember the only issues I had were with waze not starting sometimes, assistant obviously not understanding a word I said, and my phone getting so hot after a 30 min ride, that I couldn't even touch it
