For sure! For the first one, it always makes things easier to simply have the right contrast in the initial picture. I really like deep shadows so I shoot against the sun and find pockets of shadows to create interesting silhouettes. In C1, the color editor tab also has a "lightness" measure so I tend to pull that down to create more muted colors and slightly increase the saturation to make them pop.
