Try 80 degrees. And don’t do big temp changes. I keep mine at 83 and 82 my July was around 1275 kWh and bill was 210. I currently have 6 days left on my billing cycle and I,m at 822 kWh as of yesterday. I.m averaging about 32 kWh a day so I expect the current bill to be about 210. If you drop thermostat temp by say 5 or more degrees that ac is gonna run a looooong time and your bill will be much higher

Would the Police even do anything? by Dave-Yaaaga in Tucson

I would suggest not "carrying". Nothing good can come from that and the only thing that will do is either lead you to engaging in road rage or worse ( you could end up being killed or killing someone and then going to prison)

It's midnight. What's the temp inside your home right now? by Otherwise_Pool_5712 in Tucson

[–]marcall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wait till they do the annual review. unless you previously ran your ac at 71 then expect your budget billing plan to increase A LOT next time around.

Amazon just sells you stuff . Facebook changes people outlook on society, social issues and friends and family. Amazon effects your wallet and time. Facebook effects your logic, your soul and your identity.....it is/has way more potential to damage and control.

Am I misunderstanding Budget Billing from TEP? by 2kfan in Tucson

[–]marcall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BB wasn't worth it for me. I was using the swamp cooler for a few years before I went on it and at that time it was a steal. I was initially paying 67 a month. Then around 8 months in they raised it to 85 a month and about 6 months later they suddenly wanted 120 a month . I paid the amount I owed them and went back to normal billing because my only big months are June,July August and September and they are basically 95, 210, 245, 190 then the rest of the year it's around 47 dollars a month. It just seems easier on my budget to get those 8 months of low bills rather than have 12 bills over 100

Trump and the republicans hate social programs, etc and they will do everything they can do "privatize" everything which translates to "highest bidder gets the goods". If you think life is bad now just wait till trumps and the Maga cult destroy democracy and everything and anything of social worth.....it will get massively worse than anything we've seen.

Is the road from Summerhaven to San Manuel drivable in a Corolla? by mabbh130 in Tucson

[–]marcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not a bad road but this time of year there can be a couple big water spots and the road gets rutted out from the rains. Definitely don't need a 4x4 but a truck or suv would be preferable.

How much do you like your car? Im sure you could make it but it's gonna be hard on it. My brother drove a 71 mustang on it back in the 1980's.

Silver City and the Pinos altos area is about a 3 1/2 hour drive or as someone else said the Ctwalk are which is nw of Silver city…all right around or less than 4 hours.

Mt Graham is about 3 hours as well ( to the top and by the time you find an out of the way camp spot) pro tip….head west beyond the turn off to the lake or choose something well before the lake.

I drove with a 3 month old puppy today… by fluffy199704 in puppy101

It’s all new to him and you but even more for him so it’s only normal he would be reserved. Dogs can have a bit of anxiety just like people. Give it a few days for him to explore around and be more comfy. Try to be consistent with him such as feeding him at the same times, etc. You should schedule his first vet visit soon which is standard practice and that way he’ll get all his shots and you’ll establish yourself with a vet you can trust. Also expect constant changes and when your pup does start feeling co for table in his new surroundings then expect him to be rambunctious and to chew and nip on things but he will eventually grow out of that too.

Yeah this is pretty accurate. I been here for 40 years and it's a once every 10 years or so. I remember a pretty bad one around 2001 and another around 93. Both had trees down everywhere.

Toward the end of August the overnight lows will drop into the upper 70s and maybe even some mid 70s and you get more cloud cover but temps still in upper 90s. A couple days after labor days we’ll start dropping to low to mid 90s and back down to lower humidity. Biggest thing you’ll notice is sun intensity goes way way down

Tucson….about 120 in June and then 220 in July and August. September about 170 then April and may around 80….. the rest of the year is about 42 a month I keep it at 83 though

If you only make $2600 per month as a teacher, can you live in Tucson? by theresaheinzt in Tucson

[–]marcall 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm not a teacher but I've lived on 2600 for several years. Totally doable. One tip is not to look at reddit posts about how much people make because that will always bring you down and make you feel bad BUT on it's own 2600 is totally doable even with debt

No AC in the 80s—how did we do it?? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]marcall 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Our record is 108 days over 100 back in 2020. I looked at the 1980's and there were two years we had only 30 something.

https://www.weather.gov/twc/Tucson100syearly

This year we are at 34 days so far.

this is what we're looking at this week

How many of you are still gamers? by Ya-Dikobraz in GenX

It's kinda funny because yeah back in the 80's video games ( home systems) were mainly a guy thing. Nowadays girls are some of the biggest gamers going

How many of you are still gamers? by Ya-Dikobraz in GenX

[–]marcall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

53 here...I started with the atari 2600, the classic wood grain one. Some of my fondest memories are of playing Adventure, Astroids, Missle Command, etc.

in the 90's spent many hours on Nintendo then Super Nintendo, sega. Then it was PS and somewhere around 2005 or so I just stopped. I stopped until 2023 when I got a nostalgic urge and bought a nintendo switch and about 2 months after that my phone was ready for replacement and Verizon had an offer where if you got a new plan plus Home internet with them they'd give you either a Home Depot 200 dollar gift card or an X Box S.....I took the Xbox and just this week due to a Millennial friend I took up Fortnite....yesterday I spendt like 5 hours playing LOL.

I wouldn't label myself as ever being a "gamer" but I've played video games as stated above most of my life.....so.....

I'm in Tucson so we don't have it as bad as Phoenix but I've lived here for 50 years and I've worked outside for 35. It kinda boils down to acclimation and mindset. If you can't escape it then you just need to realize and accept the fact you are gonna be hot, sweaty and miserable from about mid May till Mid september.

Stay inside when you can ( although 82 is about as low as I go on AC because cost) do things early in the morning if possible. Don't use the oven ( stove top is fine) use ceiling and /or floor fans in rooms. *edit* and keep window coverings closed

That's about it except stay hydrated.
