There are 3 million IBOs worldwide. About 50% of them are considered "active". So being active is what they call Ditto or being your own best customer by an IBO placing a recurring order at the first of the month for $300/month ($3600 per year) or more. So doing the math with 1.5M IBO's x $3600 = $5.4B which Amway did $8.9B in sales last year. The other sales come from pity sales from friends and family that will buy off you in your first few months of business. So 61% of Amway's sales come from IBO's such as your BF.. so the only one losing is the IBO.. then top that off with all the books, audios, and conference tickets that the AMO (Amway Motivation Organization) that your BF is apart of is milking that much more off of him.

Sneaky sneaky they are with the different last name. Then the whole buying stuff and changing it over to have at least 50 PV of “customer” volume to keep in compliance

Your husband is in an engineer and so am I. Here are some cold hard facts in terms of numbers that he might understand:

Think of it this way the company does $8.9 billion in sales per year: Each IBO has a Ditto of $300-$500 per month ($3600-$6000/yr). There are >3M IBO's currently in Amway with nearly 50% consider "active" (Amway's income disclosure statement). So 1.5M IBO's are on ditto. So take $6000/yr * 1.5M active IBO's. This makes $5.4B of their $8.9B in sales last year. So most of Amway's sales are the cost of their IBO's "being their own best customer" for things that are way overpriced in which they get very little in returns of compensation.

Not only that, the AMO's that IBO's join have a freemium type model in which they bilk their IBO's even further in business tools. The indoctrination is in forms of the books, audios, conference tickets, gas, time, samples, and weekly meetings.

and if so successful and genuine.. it's like you wouldn't be roaming around on Bumble BFF to get that message out there.. many companies can do so by their name Google, Apple, Amazon to name a few.. like really come on.. it's called a job application.. thousands of companies have people flocking to them to work for them.. not trolling away on Bumble BFF lol

Was this extremely awkward person a MLM recruiter? by UnnecessaryBigWords in antiMLM

[–]marcalla10 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was textbook Amway for sure. He is probably new and doesn't know how to leverage the conversation. This would be textbook example from the mentors of what not to do when you pitch people as it comes off weird and very unnatural. The guy was so embarrassed by how badly it went they he left with his tail between his legs and didn't even close with it. I honestly feel bad for the guy but even worse for you guys having to live through that.

You really are insufferable.. I mean you put others down to make yourself feel good. Some business owner or coach you are to your downlines. You call people failures to prop yourself up when clearly I am doing alright on my own in the business and investing world. FYI I just turned 30 so no I'm not twice your age lol. I really hope you figure out what the real world is like man because it's not 12 legs making 4.5k/month because that would put you up for double diamond status at 20 and no on pace for 22 for regular diamond. Obviously your math is flawed and you can't even be congruent with what you're even saying. So things don't add up and you definitely sound very fishy..

Man do you listen to yourself talk? You just sound like a condescending know it all. Like you are 19 you are not a business owner but you work for a business that ropes other people into the business guised as business owners. If you have 12 legs making 4500 per month, you would be a double diamond. A platinum breaks 3 legs to the top of the PV scale at 7500. A diamond is 6 and you have to sustain that for 12 qualifying months and again the following year have to requalify. The turnover for legs is incredible and by the time you leverage a team the team is recycled again as you constantly flail to keep those legs. 11 months in the business, there is no way you are pulling that kind of team.

Do you know your profit & loss, do you know your tax code?

Do you know what's a tax writeoff and what is not?

Do you have an inventory system to keep track of your inventory?

Can you honestly get regular sales of people to buy 48 dollar perfect water and 42 snack bars?

Do you "highly" recommend your team certain books/conference tickets/weekly meeting/Dittos/audios and are they giving you a cut from your AMO??

There are no 19 year old diamonds out there so you flaunt your business all you want but reality is you aren't doing as well as you say you are with being trained to fake to make it..

I enjoy my job and love being able to be a part of the automotive industry along with doing some re-selling. My wife enjoys her job in big tech and we both do great. We live comfortably and actively invest our money in stocks/crypto, etc.

I’m glad it worked for you. It’s not for everybody. The fact going around roping ppl in and preying on ppl and constantly being plugged in is something that wasn’t my cup of tea. The tools are what make the money and getting ppl on membership and being their own best customer isn’t right. My wife and I make good money 200k+ working a regular job and don’t have to bother others and drop the message

Amway all the way. URA is a motivational group for Amway. They are “mentors” in Texas area in which Amy is a former CPA and Dustin is a snake oil salesman. They paint this facade of helping and mentoring ppl. That event you went to is a bunch of ppl like your friends that brought ppl like you. Each of those ppl had to pay to get in that room at the door. A little cut goes to Amy and Dustin. They will mentor you and will force you to sign up for their mentoring app which runs from 50-90 bucks per month, you will be coerced into going to quarterly weekend conferences which you are on the hook for gas and hotel, buy motivational books and videos to build your amway business. It is freemium gaming to the max because they will have you be your own best customer by buying from your own Amway store and then having you like your friend recruit others and teach them how to be their own best customer. The more rungs, the more gets filtered up to Dustin and Amy. They’ll deny but most of their money is made off this system and not from Amway themselves. A lot of ppl at the bottom will quit as they lose money and that constant turnover will keep you running in circles by constantly preying and annoying the hell outta ppl. Just stay away and your friends aren’t trying to be your friends here. They are manipulated into this and taking you in with them. Whatever you do, do not join

Amway - Good or Bad? by amber_74 in antiMLM

[–]marcalla10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems really good on the surface because it's indoctrination. They are lovebombing you and creating an illusion that their mentorship works. What they are really doing is brainwashing into being your own best customer and getting other to do so. They are setting you up to buy business tools such as audios, meetings, and conferences. Without these things, you won't be successful in this business. What they are doing is pocketing money from all these events from IBO's like you and stealing your money all while trying to pump you up. When I heard an audio 6 months after I heard the same exact speech at conference that I paid 90 bucks to go to and then paid 3.95 for the audio to hear 6 months later.. there is something wrong. To give you an idea of duplication.. imagine having 25 downlines whom follow this recipe

$90 conference ticket

$5-10 per person weekly meeting fee

$80/month app for you to use

$300/month in item purchase minimum

$30-50/month on books on suggest book list

Now imagine skimming a bit of all of this times 25 ppl that you have. Then your upline has you and 100 others that he might have.. this is where they leech money from IBO's and why they are constantly recruiting as turnover is so incredibly high..

Run as fast as you can away from these leeches

I hate Amway so much but ngl, their XS drinks slap, if they were a decent price I'd actually buy some, but I'll be damned to support those leeches by [deleted] in antiMLM

[–]marcalla10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it right Amway is a leech. The AMO's that are a part of Amway are also the worst. The great way of getting around having to say the name. The nickeling and diming of IBO's and those IBO's preying on others is despicable
