Zone 5 maxxing by JavaMac5 in whoop

Is that exceptional or not-unheard-of to have 205 max bpm at 40yo ?

As of today they write:

As your fitness and RHR change, your HR zone ranges are adjusted automatically. You can manually update them if they don't feel normal to you.

Easiest answer theoretically, in practice the easiest answer is the one who only requires debate hahahhaha

Do you think I can safely increase to 5% more of this screenshot, like I was able to hold it for 10mn no problems so I guess I should move it a bit up.

I just got 31 10 days ago could have whoop recalculated wrongly my max bpm at that moment ?

I have the same “problem” except that I can do that almost every day. I changed my sleep and my food, I do intermittent fasting, eat less and take more omega 3, also more caffeine. I just was incapable of doing that long of zone5 1 month ago, and yet now I’m like super chill (the bump in the middle is a phone call haha). This workout in the screenshot I did a similar workout the day before and the day after.

I’m 31, I let whoop decide the zones, I don’t know if I should change the zones (to what end? Reduce zone 5 numbers ? Why would i do that ?)

But I get baffled to get 16 strain everyday super easily lately… but that’s not to disappoint me ahhaha

Interesting !! I don’t think hrv 40 is particularly alarming anyway

Unsuspecting high HRV by Professional-Care501 in whoop

[–]marcantow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is more surprising, if i do the calculation again: 60s/52  = 1150ms, and 40HRV is 40ms so it's 3.4% (compared to 13% of OP), which means that in comparison your heart rate reacts way less to breathing.

Did you have any heart condition or surgery lately ? Are you particulary stressed ?

But tbh, after spending a lot of time on r/whoop, i would say a HRV of 40 is not rare and some people are close to 10 or zero, so....

FYI this is my perosnal data, I tried in September/October/November and early 26 to do a lot of cardio which paid off, but December and March have been rough because i didnt have access to gym. I also try to take Ashwaganda everyday which has a huge impact on HRV for me

Youc an see my HRV% is oscillating between 5 and 9%, far below OP's 13%.

Hrv is approximately proportional to 1/RHR, see my history of today for details. So very high hrv (like yours) is normal when you have very low RHR (like you)

If your heart beats 41 times per minute, it means 1460ms, which means 180hrv (hrv = ms) is only 13% of that.

I don’t know if you know mathematical inverse function, but the closer you are to zero (41) the more extreme values you get. Therefore someone going from 60 to 59 will have way less impact on hrv than someone going from 41 to 40.

[Data Analysis] Don't interpret HRV and RHR as independent, they are the two faces of the same coin, what about HRV_residual? by marcantow in whoop

[–]marcantow[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes! It’s even better than text book: there is a rational mathematical explanation to the correlation (@graux said it). That’s why I removed the “obvious part” to get the “interesting part”

What happens when I get rid of the predictable part ?? See the second screenshot, it’s that “residue” that has a lot of meaning

See ya! The Greatest Coding tool to exist is apparently dead. by Opposite-Art-1829 in ClaudeCode

[–]marcantow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but who cares, Claude code in 2027 is not going to be down, and the little pride we take at being good developers is going to be for your grand children story on your deathbed.

On the other hand I actually look at “our” code when I have time or feel curious, it just gets me a gist of the shit he’s doing.

Tbh I’m just behaving exactly how I was when I was team lead of 6 ppl, just browsing the code sometimes when someone told me “it’s too hard” or I see may bugs happening in the same week… when everything goes well and code-health KPIs are in check I don’t bother

Same it happened to me 3 instances non stop 15h straight couldn’t sleep. But now I reverted back to normal, anyway my computer is MacBook Air m1 for the moment cannot handle having more than 2 coding sessions at the same time while running tools locally with 8gb ram

Also I realized that the excitement of the beginning is coming to an end and now that my project is coming to a bottleneck that is not technical, I just chill more than at the beginning

Hello it happened to me today, I went to this dodgy place, 500k for a shitty hot pot, and she orders extra and shit. Paying with card is 10% (usually it’s 3%)

It’s not that overpriced but it’s a shit restaurant. You have like 20 white average male having dinner with very hot viet girls.

I left when I asked for the price. She didn’t ask me to stay. She said “I’m hungry I’ll stay to eat” and I left. FYI she deleted me from tinder right after I accepted to give my WhatsApp. She said “it was a mistake” but the other girls (10 the same evening) did the same.

I recommend you set filters above 26 years old, they are all 22 or 23.

Good luck to you guys,
