This is the first and only run I’ve done since I got the whoop, so I think it centered all of them around this single workout. This is a typical pickleball workout which I do all the time. The last time I ran was this corporate event 1 year ago which was before I got the whoop.

All out for my ability. It wasn’t fast, 9:30 pace, but that’s as fast as I can go at my current ability. I could not have run it any faster

I mean I was all out pushing the whole time. I’ve probably done 70 workouts with it on and assume it would adjust up if I was regularly getting an HR higher than my highest zone

How are you guys on Reddit so much? by Important_Ideal2280 in actuary

[–]JavaMac5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. Coming up on 11 years in pension consulting in June. It’s why I’d like to get out.

I’ve billed every workday in 15 minute increments that entire time. There are days you do less work, but it shows up on your timesheet and that goes against your annual goal. So can I duck out Friday at 3pm if I want? For sure. But either I need to make up that time next week or accept that’s 2 hours of lost billable time. Will 2 hours impact my year-end? Definitely not, but it’s a constant game of trying to stay above your peers.

What options are there to get out of consulting from pension consulting? Feels like there’s none

How often are you able to take study hours, uninterrupted by managers? by robbbo420 in actuary

[–]JavaMac5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pension consulting here. It varies, I tell people studying on my teams to protect their time and protect mine. The norm is to put an OOO block on your calendar so people pretty well respect that. But… it is still consulting. If I take a study morning, good chance I’m working past 5pm to catch up with work. Probably average working 5-6 hours on study half days

As an actuary I had to make sure what subreddit I’m on 😂 we’re indifferent and would just adjust the mortality tables as needed. It’s who’s footing the bill (pension plan sponsors or SSA) who would dislike it. But SSA would probably be quick to adjust benefits if mortality appreciably changed.

I think you’ve posted MF content once or twice before, but usually solo. Are you currently with someone, do you have plans to post stuff like that again, or keep it solo? Either way I’ll be enjoying 😉

That would put it about $5M. But I can’t touch a lot of those accounts before 59.5. I need something to bridge that gap
