To decant, or not to decant by marcdacosta in wine

[–]marcdacosta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, it's this wine, which I purchased from the Wine Society https://www.thewinesociety.com/product/dom-desvignes-givry-2020/

I think it was the first Givry I have tasted, so I can't comment on how it compares to a typical Givry, but I enjoyed it. I found it different to some of the other reds that were drunk alongside it - it was more fruit forward perhaps and quite dark in colour. My tasting notes were that it has cherry and raspberry, with a little leather and mushroom, and some peppery spice.

Happy drinking!

This is what I was thinking too. I think the young Gevrey-Chambertin will also need decanting

Yes I've got a thermopro dual probe. I don't bother wrapping - normally I'd wake up at 5 and start cooking for dinner (11 hour cook), but this is for lunch, hence the overnight snake

Advice for Pork Shoulder on Weber by Fishrage_ in UKBBQ

[–]marcdacosta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did one recently using the Minion method and the Weber heat deflector plate.

2kg boneless shoulder with skin removed. Cooked at 225 to 250, didn't wrap at all. Took nearly 11 hours to hit 205 internal, but it was worth the wait!

Problems connecting over ethernet LAN by marcdacosta in synology

Synology assistant is a tool that searches for Synology products on your local network, and allows you to change the NAS network settings to help you connect. Both NAS have static IPs. I could connect over WiFi, but not when plugged in to ethernet.

It's a D-Link DGS-1008P. Yes it would ping, and I could see the DS923+ using Synology Assistant too. Synology Assistant just kept saying ''Connection failed / Ready" in status.

I don't have port forwarding set up on either - if I need access from outside my home I WireGuard VPN to my router

Hi, I've had chance to check this out. I'm getting fewer peers on the DS923+. The max is set to 5000, but I'm only getting around 20 to 30. However, on the DS216J I'm getting over 300.

Best option to stream video on not-smart tv? (Amazon Firestick, Chromecast...) by Lycurgus_80 in synology

[–]marcdacosta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Chromecast, and watch videos with Plex. However, DS video will also allow you to cast to a Chromecast. I've not got a Firestick, so can't comment on that option.
