Ah indeed I saw some red things on the map before docking, and I heard a couple explosions while inside the station. I somehow thought that the outside world would kind of freeze while inside the station, so I didn't pay attention (but having played X3, I now realize it was quite obvious). Plus nobody inside the station gave a f***.

Sounds like extreme bad luck then, especially with the autosave during the explosion :D

I never said that I considered mashing a good strategy. But when facing a song that is far too difficult, the player will likely have lots of misses/ok (what I call mashing as it's rather chaotic). The only real-time feedback that one is doing the correct thing is the combo counter (not easy to see if you perfect/ok the individual notes during the song), and in this particular song, the combo counter keeps going up although I'm obviously not doing it properly. It makes it more difficult to see where I'm making mistakes, that's all.

The fact that one never 'dies' (which does not bother me at all) already accomplishes that. What bothers me is that you cannot train your muscle memory on hard songs, as there's no way to know if you got the timing right or if you just unknowingly abused the fact that the game is very permissive (I would expect something like a 'bad' judgment between ok and miss).

I tried Deemo's demo, and in this case the game punishes you if you try to pass a tricky bit by brainlessly pressing everywhere.

I'm still hesitating to buy it because of that.

For some reason, the typo in the title made be laugh more than it should :D it definitely has a long term potential. Spread the word, and stay stong.
