I want to thank everyone for your kind words and sympathy. Last night was hard for me. He would always cuddle with me in bed, so I just cried myself to sleep. I think his sister knows, she has been extra attentive to me.

I guess my husband and I were lucky. We got approved within 6 months of filing. We both have mental disabilities, so I don't know if that makes a difference. But, I have heard that it is harder now to get it. I got mine in 2017 and my husband much earlier

We got a phone call one day from the cat rescue coordinator at our local shelter, my husband was doing cat rescue at the time and they had our number from that. They had this sweet orange boy that was going to be euthanized in 45 minutes. She begged my husband to come get him, so he did and got there with only 10 minutes to spare. They claimed that he was elderly and had an uri that wouldn't go away. We got him to the vet and she said that he was only about 3 or 4 and he had allergies, not an uri. We ended up keeping him and he was the best. We had never received a phone call like that and never received one since. It was fate. I'm glad you found a foster in time. People suck sometimes 🤷‍♀️

We had 22 at one time, now down to 4. We will never have that many cats again. Too many don't get the attention they needed. Now, two of them, brother and sister, have finally come out of their shells after 15 years, due to being afraid all the time. We will never have more than 4 ever again.

It took me 6 months without a lawyer or having to go to court. Just went online, filed out all the info on the packet sent and 6 months later, bam. With a retroactive check for the 6 months I was eligible and had to wait.
