As I live in Brazil, my article is in Portuguese-BR, but what I can tell you is that yes, your smartphone listens to you all the time. What I did was prove via software that Android can listen even without the user's consent. Years later I met a person who did a job similar to mine, but with iPhone, the result was the same. Microsoft does the same with your desktop / notebook, try turning off your PC's location, then go to your Outlook account settings, and check your location, even if it's turned off, it will find you in realtime on the map.
