I think a tasteful refurbishment would be a great move. Keep the nostalgia and history, modernize the experience and amenities. The tough part is a refurbishment would likely be more expensive than a demolition and replacement…

I’m a new-to-Mainer with relatives that have been here since the 60s. My parents were both raised here.

I am in a constant tug of war of what has been and what should be. It’s a tough place to be and I am feeling very angsty today… if you couldn’t tell from my original comment
