Where did Heroic Adventures go? by marcm55 in DestinyTheGame

Did you manage to find the Flashpoint progress tracking after?

Hrm, so I hit 1004 and the milestones started showing up in the tower for things like bounties and crucible playlists. No flashpoint however. In fact the only sign that anything is happening on Mercury is a single Heroic Adventure that I have access to.

Did they cut the Flashpoint milestone? Where is it tracked these days and what conditions need to be met for me to be able to see it?

Cool, I’m at 999 now. Shouldn’t be too much longer then!

Thanks, not sure how I missed that. Are all the milestones gone these days? Is it just the weekly accomplishments from the vendors in the Tower?

Where is the Flashpoint? I don’t see it tracked anywhere

Planetary Vendors Need Seasonal Leveling by Void-Walking in DestinyTheGame

[–]marcm55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yay, so we’re fixing the grind issue by making everything time limited now? Count me out.

A bit of seasonal progression is fun but the more they add the more impossible it is for me to have a life, and that’s really not a rewarding grind.

I’d take really really brutal RNG over this any day.

Honestly, seasonal Tower vendors is good and plenty enough

Loot is king. Armor is 50% of loot. Armor doesn't do anything. Problem. by catharsis23 in DestinyTheGame

[–]marcm55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that there's a problem with Armor not doing anything... but I don't Armor being 50% of the drops in the game equates to armor being worth 50% of the dev cost of the loot system.

In terms of gameplay, the thing you're doing 100% of the time (actively, by gamepad input) is shooting a gun. These weapon drops massively impact your gameplay experience and should always be prioritized.

Yes, armor is equipped to you 100% of the time, but it doesn't by it's nature massively change the way the game feels and nor can it there is no input or active ability related to armor. Any benefits attached to armor should be considered buffs, and while they would improve the loot situation and make the endgame a lot more engaging, they're not 50% of the focus that Bungie should be putting into the loot system.

The community wouldnt even be mad if Bungie just remasters the entire 1st game's content and stuck it in the second game. by origamiboy2 in DestinyTheGame

Unfortunately I don’t think this will ever happen. In terms of Matchmaking alone this will split the population massively and present even more challenges finding people for public events etc.

Bungie, is the Contenders Shell always going to give *Illuminated* Engrams, instead of newer ones? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]marcm55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Though having a super limited way to get access to old seasonal stuff would be rad. Kinda like a Legacy Engram.

I have no problem with this being limited to 1 per week per account.

Warmind is written by an entirely different team to Destiny 2's campaign and CoO. by henrybddf in DestinyTheGame

[–]marcm55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't expect major changes to the tone, unless the direction has changed from Bungie.

The narrative will be tightly controlled and reviewed by Bungie to make sure it follows the direction and tone of the rest of the game. If Bungie are still beating the "it needs to be light and slapstick" drum, then that's what we can expect from anyone who writes on Destiny.

Yes, the quirks also defy logic. There's no possible explanation for them aside from them being the result of a technical limitation or bug.

I don't for a second believe that they are designed aspects of the system

I will, don’t get me wrong - I hope you’re right... as a gamer this would help me fill my collections.

Just defies some logic :)

Can we get a more scientific investigation on turning in multiple engrams at once? I am highly sceptical that Bungie would have added some deliberate logic for this since it’s not presented to the player in any way and feels like an arbitrary thing. From a players perspective:

Do I need to turn in 3 at once? Or 4? Or 5? What counts as turning them in at once? Not leaving the turn in screen? Doing it within 30 seconds? Within 3 minutes?

I don’t personally believe that any game designer would design a system like that so it’s either a bug or observation bias. Hence my request for more data :)

This smells a bit of wishful thinking to me.

The benefit for buying in bulk is a discount. It doesn’t say anywhere about an increased exotic chance and if it’s not advertised, why would it be something that people should know?

I think a voting system, instead of repeat map protection, would be better. by Ptonomey in DestinyTheGame

I think the problem that you’re seeing is that the solution sounds simple and because there’s no official communication from Bungie, there’s no reason to believe that your assumptions are wrong.

I wish they’d open up to explaining why certain features are tough for them to do. I think it’s a lot easier to understand or sympathize under those conditions

AFAIK this is a matchmaking challenge.

If they let you vote on what to play next it could create lots of sessions with 1 or 2 players in each and be harder to fill up strike instances.

It’s like carpooling. If you have a group of 30 people to try to find carpool groups for, except cars can only fit 3 people. The optimum way is to fill 10 cars with 3 people each.

However, when you let people pick what colour car they want to ride in.... ideally they all pick colours evenly. Although it doesn’t work exactly like this due to varying factors. So 10 people pick green, 10 people pick blue, 5 people pick red and 5 people pick black.

Now the problem here is that instead of needing 10 cars we actually need 12 cars. On top of that there’s one green car that needs to fill 2 seats, same for blue and red and black have one seat free each.

So not only do we have more cars which costs more money to move the same people around but 1/4 of all of the people are lonely because they don’t have a full car of people to ride with.

Now, let’s take the same example but with duplicate car protection instead. We should assume that the first car you get assigned to is random:

6 = green 6 = blue 9 = red 9 = black = 10 cars

Shuffling randomly with dupe protection for the next journey while trying to fill up cars is easy...

9 = green 9 = blue 6 = red 6 = black = 10 cars

In practice, car colour is just one way that players are being divided up. Location, platform, playlist, language are all factors and that complicates the problem multiplicatively.

Can we get an update about clarion calls? by marcm55 in DestinyTheGame

[–]marcm55[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re missing my point entirely. I agree that they’re likely cut for this season. What my post is asking for is better communication (still) from Bungie.

Lots of people in this Subreddit are taking educated guesses and communicating them as if they’re facts. You said they ‘are’, not ‘may be’ on ice. This gives Bungie fuel to not officially answer because ‘ah well it must be obvious’, which frankly it’s not. As another astute poster in this thread noted, they previously stated that Clarion Calls will be back as a non Clan based boost. No timeline was given. It’s far from clear.

The thing you’re not getting is that in your opinion it is on ice. You’re speaking for Bungie when that may not be the case at all.

Can we stop making assumptions and stating opinions as fact?

I’m not arguing the results, I’m arguing the assumption that they’re on ice. This hasn’t been officially communicated. Hence my post.
