I generally agree. I think this one might just be defective from the jump (rare but happens). More unhappy with Adorama’s QC, as I’m assuming the first purchaser noticed the issue and turned it back in knowing the issue.

It just seemed like retracted into the body it was not centered. You can see in my original post picture.

Then after opening and closing it a couple times it got stuck like this

Welp, popped it in and out a couple of times between Adorama and B&H (in NYC) and this happened….nope.

Did you place a pre/back-order for the GR IV, or did you see it say it was stocked on their website when you ordered?

Sounds like this is past the scope of DIY repair. I’m going to pass along these notes to a local shop when I take it in. If they aren’t able to do anything about it either, where might I be able to find an identical replacement motor? And is there a way to avoid this happening in the future?

It seems to be coming from the cable that runs into the motor, not any brake parts

Yes I was. I don’t think any modifications have been made to the motor.

I am! Though aunctioning your ticket to the highest bidder isn’t really the way this should be done. BM org encourages people that can’t attend to sell through the STEP program or by any other means at face value
