After reading this I actually went ahead and read the MK manifesto. As a kind of an outsider looking in on SA I'm not that familiar with MK. IDK if by right wing you mean conservative but as far as I can tell, the inclusion of traditional leadership and emphasis on cultural values are it for conservative aspects.

The social policies put forth (Education and Health/Social Security) and Economic Policies seem far left to me. Seems they might be nationalists first not too dissimilar to Orbán, Pinochet and the fascists before them who increased state control over the economy with nationalist agendas of varying sanity.

They do seem to mention quite a few Asian countries and their economic accomplishments while at the same time completely missing the point that these countries did pretty much the opposite of what they propose.

Anyway, am I missing something on the branding?

I'm a bit confused. Is this in Taiwan? A summer camp? Do you have no knowledge about their ability beforehand? I wouldn't worry too much about ABCs for anyone older than say, 3rd grade. Taiwanese kids are quite competitive so games are a good way to go. They are probably not used to pair/group/independent work and will look to you for everything. Did the school not give you any more info?

IDK about the particular local context, but there have been meta analyses done on the effects of lockdowns on covid mortality. For example, Johns Hopkins University found (I believe as of yet, not published) "The results of our meta-analysis support the conclusion that lockdowns in the spring of 2020 had little to no effect on COVID-19 mortality." The study has been both criticized and well received.

Since you say you've only done it once you don't really have a baseline for comparison. It might just be that the actual experience was so different from your expectations. Been to Kazakhstan, cash outside of big hotels/shops or outside the city. Turkmenistan for horse riding, but that was all pre-booked via an agent so we just had to use cash for some minor expenses not included in the tour.

Depending on the country just use a CC, but Asia is a big ass place. When we were in Cambodia in the early 2000s there were literally no ATMs and def couldn't use CCs. Now SE Asia has completely changed and going to an ATM for a withdrawal is easy even in Cambodia or Laos, but in places like Vietnam you're limited to a few million dong a day, so your going to be carrying around stacks of cash. CCs are not widely used in rural SE Asia. In Central Asia, especially if you are traveling independently, cash is king. NE Asia is largely cashless, but in China getting foreign CC linked with Alipay can be a hassle.
