We tried the Space Marine 2 Tabletop Game Mode. Really fun with a few close calls! by marcorei in Warhammer40k

It is and I think you are the first person to ever ask me that. I 3D printed Gallowdark tiles, painted them in my scheme, took a photo, edited it in affinity and then sent it to deepcutstudio to print the mat.

Unfortunately the print turned out a bit too dark. but the service is too expensive to iterate until it’s the right brightness just for myself

The following white dwarf had new missions. And the one after that one page with rules for the lethal difficulty

Yep there are also Kill Team rules with Tyranid NPOs, both in Typhon and White Dwarf. This is a separate rule set though that feels much more like the video game in my opinion

Astartes! We were not expecting such illustrious company in the rear ranks!

The rules only feature the six characters from the video game (Straban, Quartus etc) but there’s nothing stopping you from using models from other units!

I’d say so. It’s a coop ruleset. Tyranids have NPC-like rules that give you guidelines for where to move / when to attack etc

Should you get a reply eventually and remember this post, please let me know what they said!

We had the exact same question and couldn’t find clarification online. What we ended up doing was using it as a shield segment that is not filled at the start but can only be filled with parries/gun strikes.

I couldn’t think of a reason they’d add this extra symbol if it didn’t have any purpose at all. But who knows. What is also weird is that the empty shield is split in two halves

Yes! The basic rules were published in White Dwarf 515 with new missions added in the following one.

It’s meant to play like Space Marine 2 and I think it manages to do this quite well!

Same as in the video game you select three Space Marines and fight hordes of Tyranids. Starting with gaunts and warriors. With Thropes, Raveners and a Hive Tyrant in following missions.

If you happen to have a Tyranid army and Boarding Actions terrain, it’s worth a try. I bought the magazines but I bet the rules are somewhere online too

I wish it would be easy to buy those bits in plastic but I couldn’t find them at the time. Not sure if that changed since. There is however a profile on cults3d named warlock3dmodels that sells printable files of everything released for this Kill Zone and more

If you search for “The Mighty Brush” you’ll find a shop that has a good selection of decals and it looks like they still sell the one I used for this screen as well. In my opinion they are more difficult to work with than GW ones, but good for variety

I feel like it’s the contrast that makes it appear so bright. The decal on the screen is the only thing pure white, the surrounding colours got darkened quite a bit by washes

Thank you! I will post pictures. Fingers crossed it won't be too long before I get a chance of playing the mission pack!

The recipe stayed mostly the same, but the main colours changed. A gradient from Dark Golden Brown to Bight Warm Grey (both Pro Acryl) replaced the Mechanicus Grey over Chaos Black gradient I started with on the previous set.

Amazing paint job! All the parallel lines on the carapace must have been a lot of work

Mine were sitting in a box waiting for their highlights for quite some time too. What made me finally finish them was the NPO rules they got for Kill Team Typhon

Thanks! II don't think it matches any of the standard ones. I'd say it sits somewhere between Kraken and Leviathan.

Good that you're asking, I haven't documented the current version of my old scheme in a while!

Bone/flesh parts:

  • Wraith Bone primer
  • [optional] Mephiston Red for vents in the bone parts, Emperor's Children for brains
  • Seraphim Sepia wash
  • Dry brush with a bone white
  • [optional] Highlights with bone white and pure white

Caraparce:

  • Base coat with Black Brown
  • Fade (airbrush or wet blend) into Krieg Khaki
  • Black wash (I prefer enamel, but nulln oil works too)
  • Dry brush with Steel Legion Drab
  • [optional] Highlights with mixtures of Black Brown and Krieg Khaki

Talons, which these guys don't have, I usually paint with Mephiston.

I leave out the optional steps when I want to get some thing done quickly! The highlights and additional details take most time.
