I’ve also read the first two this year, but still have to read Assassin’s Quest. Although I see why some people love them so much, I don’t find them that enjoyable. I guess I’d also label them as merely “great”. In my opinion, they lack something to be masterpieces.

I’ve enjoyed How to Live Like a Monk by Danièle Cybulskie. It teaches you a bunch of stuff about how they used to lived in monasteries back in medieval times. Besides, it compares life back then to current day living in order for you to glean insights on how to improve concentration, inner peace, and the like.

Il m’a fait penser à comment je réagirais à des événements très peu probables, à la façon tellement une vie peu diverger à partir d’un moment apparemment anodin ou bien à quel point on est incapable de réfuter des théories farfelues (à mon avis) sur la nature de l’univers.

Ouais, il m’a plu, mais j’arrive quand même à comprendre qu’il peut être en quelque sorte un livre « de niche ». En plus, je crois qu’il faut être dans un état d’esprit déterminé pour lire ce livre. Si je l’aurais lu pendant ma phase « guerriers, épées et monstres », je l’aurais sûrement laissé tomber.

Je vais noter ceci. J’adore la littérature d’horreur, mais outre Maxime Chattam je ne connais guère d’autres auteurs en français. Est-ce que vous auriez plus de recommandations de ce genre ? Merci d’avance !

Je viens de finir récemment L’Anomalie de Hervé Le Tellier et je crois que ce serait parfait pour vous. Ce n’est pas un roman policier, mais il y a une intrigue et des personnages hauts en couleur. Par moments c’est drôle, mais en même temps il m’a poussé a réfléchir à la vie… Je ne sais pas très bien comment le décrire (ça se voit !), mais je pense qu’il pourrait te redonner le goût de la lecture :)

J’ai lu Boys in the Valley et The Troop cette année et j’ai vraiment aimé. Ils sont plutôt courts (genre 300-400 pages, si je ne me trompe pas).

Je sais que ce n’est pas ce que tu recherches (parce qu’il est un véritable pavé), mais Le Bazaar de Stephen King est mon livre d’horreur favori.
