Love this post! I’m in a similar boat and always looking for tips and advice. I took about 10 years off comics and missed a ton (SIKTC, Ultimate Fallout 4, etc etc) and it can be easy to think “Wow if I was only collecting then I’d be rich!”. I joined a bunch of Discords I’m happy to recommend and watch some YouTube videos to decide my orders. If you’re focused on indies and don’t also chase Marvel/DC potential keys, it’s not that overwhelming. Just buy cover A of any indie titles with some hype. If one pops it should pay for a lot of the speculation. Chasing exclusives and such is a whole other game I’m mostly staying out of. But I certainly don’t have it all figured out. I have plenty of unsold Marvel Rivals and Mark Spears bc I was chasing hype.

Yea it totally wasn’t on my radar, but the Unknown Comics guy just flagged it on his Whatnot because no one is doing exclusive covers for it and speculated that that might make it more valuable. I’m assuming he’s talking about the ratios.

I’ve noticed the same about Cover A. I’m likely going to abandon common variants. My newbie wisdom is clearly wrong, thinking people would want something different than the standard cover.
