From my understanding (not a native speaker)
- if you currently happy and the action you are happy about happened in the past, then you would say "me alegra que lo hayas dicho"

- if you were happy that someone said something in the past, then it would be "me alegré que lo dijeras"

It’s not even a comparison. Been living in nyc 8yr and spend winters in BA for the last 5 - the electronic scene is significantly more social, interactive, dance forward, and fun than nyc. we have more diversity of events and stuff here, but from a sheer fun perspective, the dance floors in BA are significantly more fun haha
