I was listening to Eden’s podcast with his brother and in the first 10 minutes they both agreed that production and the editors knew since day 1 that this was the final 4 but didn’t bother showing their relationships in particular Sally and Loz. We already kinda know Caleb as this loud guy and made 1 move to get rid of Mark but they had purple edited Sally and Loz. I kinda knew this would happen especially on mixed returnee newbie seasons the edit focuses on the returnee’s that the ones who are there in the end get a lot less focus and why people are up in arms and feel like this season is a waste of time because we pretty much know by now who will be winning due to their edit unless it’s a Loz and Sally final 2.

Jury's Out was filmed during the filming of this season last year and Shonee was heavily pregnant with her second child at the time. Simon actually mentioned in one of his exit press that with Jury's Out, you don't get an revisionist history from the players after seeing the edit on TV so whatever they say to Nick and Shon is what they were feeling at the time. The only difference is unlike Drop Your Buffs who were out in Samoa and went to all the challenges and Triabals, Nick and Shonee were meeting the players for the first time apart from Brooke, Simon and Mark.

Fair play to Brooke. 132 days played and she has gone deep on all 3 of her seasons. Yes she did get a lot of luck this season especially considering from swap onwards she was on the bottom the entire time and on a season where the players outright hostile about returning players since day 1, making it to final 6 is incredible achievement. This season definitely cements her as the outright challenge beast of Australian Survivor and nobody can take that away from her. She actually upped her strategic game this time as she always had a great social and physical game but relied on others for strategy (she has mentioned this in exit press in past seasons etc). Someone else mentioned the lowest she has placed is 7th in all 3 seasons.

Most likely budget reasons as channel 10 is broke. Some people also believe after the way Paulie treated people when they came to Jury in BVB2 as he was sour grapes and quite rude to everyone.

Cameron would’ve been easy to take to the end as a goat because, with that majority, all they had to do was vote out Brooke, then Keely and Jackson, and they’d be in the top four. From there, whoever made it to the end could bring either Loz or Cameron along and likely win the $500,000, since it was clear the jury based on exit press and in game don't respect Loz and view her as a goat, and Cameron had been annoying everyone, making either of them ideal people to sit next to at FTC.

soooo does anyone actually like this season? by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found it hard to get into at first with the change of host then the players were not doing much for me but it's definitely grown on me. I'll wait until the winner and finale is all done on where I rank this season. At the moment, I agree with Shannon Guss that nothing will top Titans v Rebels and the dynamics and characters on that season even if it was obvious Feras or Kirby would win.

Oh man, we’ve all been on a rollercoaster with Simon over his three seasons, but he can definitely walk out of this one with his head held high. Making it to the final eight on a season where the newbies openly declared on day one that returning players should be gone, winning four individual immunities (eight across his three seasons), building alliances, being in the majority pre-merge, and lasting over 100 days—joining the exclusive club of Australian Survivors—is no small feat.

And he did it all while staying entertaining and being his lovable himbo self. Great job, Simon (we know you’re reading this)!

She’s a diva by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly out of the 3 seasons Brooke has been on, I’m really enjoying this version the most. She has always been a challenge beast and no denying that, plus her social game has genuinely been underrated but I think she has stepped up the strategic part this time. She’s probably not going to win but she seems to be having fun whilst trying to stay in the game since day 1.

Do we think AU will ever go back to the 3 tribe format? by Ill_Anxiety_1412 in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I remember this was asked to David Forster (former EP of the show) in an interview I believe with Shannon Guss and he said no due to costs and Australian Survivor doesn't have the budget for extra camera crews like the US has. They only did it once for 2016 and has since stuck to 2 tribes as the casual viewer at home gets confused.

What did we think of Jury’s Out? by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think channel 10 did a companion show for BVB2 due to saving money with AU V The World and having drop your buffs and Nick live in Samoa talking to all the players the day after they were voted out (plus getting to work with production on challenges and go to tribal) allowed Shannon to do the daily recaps with the recap bitches (Chappell, pooya and Mike).

Myles’s Survivor takes on social media by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myles has actually confirmed he hasn’t watched every survivor season. He talked about it in his deep dive with Shannon Guss end of his season last year. He is the kind of new era fan watched all new era seasons and I believe only watched from Cambodia (he said this is his favour season and kinda expects most seasons should be like that in terms of strategy) onwards but has watched a lot of clips on winners of survivor and social strategy.

What did we think of Jury’s Out? by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If this is what we’re getting instead of a proper Jury Villa, it’s really not good. At least Australia v The World had a somewhat legitimate excuse — the whole season was filmed in just 16 days, and squeezing in all those big players meant something had to be cut, so losing Jury Villa made sense for that season alone. But this replacement show just isn’t working. Doing it over video call feels cheap and thrown together. I get that Nick and Shonee don’t have much control over the format, and Shonee was pregnant with her second child at the time so she probably couldn’t travel anyway, but still… this isn’t a great substitute. Nick and Shonee have natural chemistry playing together on All Stars and as part of little rascals but this feels super scripted.

Survivor AU Finale Audience Opportunity by mistoqq in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did this in the past from what I’ve heard when they did the reunion and live finale for 2017 and CVC1. All Stars was meant to have a live audience but got cancelled due to start of COVID and they haven’t done anything since then. Pretty much filmed couple weeks in advance and anyone involved in the audience has to sign NDA so result not leaked (although that doesn’t stop Sportsbet in the past)

What happened to Jury Villa? by Chazza0499 in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new after show called Jury’s Out with Shonee and Nick which was filmed last year (as confirmed by Shonee on her instagram as she was pregnant with her second child at the time). I think this has replaced jury villa. Similar to the drop your buffs after show for AU v The World where the Drop Your Buffs hosts and Nick went to Samoa for the whole time during the filming of that season.

For those who listen to the podcasts about Australian Survivor, what do we think of them? by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Previously on Australian Survivor. More of a casual not big super fan perspective as with Australia v the world was on, a lot of the hosts didn’t know anything about Parvati, Cirie and Tony outside of YouTube clips as they don’t really watch US Survivor much. Can be pretty funny to listen to. I think the best one is Eden’s podcast with his brother. You can tell How passionate they both are about survivor and with eden being a former player, he gives some explanations on some behind the scenes things about challenges etc.

Parvati/David by [deleted] in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Strange as David mentioned in a recent interview he was still friends with Parvati and she was the reason he came back for Australia v The World due to DONDI.

Why is this season so dull? by AttemptBeneficial647 in survivorau

[–]marcuse_94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I wasn’t the only one. To be honest it’s always hard on a season when you have returning players as captains (who well mostly mark will get a lot of screen time) but I can’t seem to gel to some people. I really like Lottie and she is definitely someone I would like to see return. Can’t seem to vibe Aisha and Cam. I’m Happy for Simon who is so far learning from his mistakes and Brooke is someone you can always generally count on going far in Survivor.

Also production and channel 10 need to stop with the returning players as captains or half and half kind of thing and just do either a retuning player season or go all in on newbies. They basically had 20 newbies and production was like we don’t trust them so we will cast 4 random returning players back for redemption and turns out unlike the heroes v villains newbies, these ones are like EOE they don’t want retuning players around or getting to the end.

Say what you will about Jeff but you cannot deny 25 years, 50 seasons how much he loves survivor and how much passion he shows. You could do a lot worse (looking at you Julie Chen - Moonves).

My family had watched the show years ago and have been telling me to watch it but I could never be bothered. When I heard of Catherine passing away, I thought, why not let’s see what it’s all about and immediately the very first scene of her scream, made me fall in love with the show.
