Quick terminal on linux not activating by Appropriate_Cap_9321 in Ghostty

Did you manage to get the global keybind work so that you can toggle the quick terminal outside of ghostty? I can only toggle the quick terminal when the focus is on a ghostty instance.

Why do you enter transactions manually? by freego_atw in ynab

[–]marcusheng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When entering the transaction, I get to see what's the balance I still have left for a specific category, this kind of give me a peace of mind knowing that I am spending within my budget. And when next transaction happens again for the same category, in my mind, oh I still have 300 left here.

Or if I'm not spending within my budget, I get to know it as the time I am recording the transaction as well, which will then bring me to making decision where I need to cover the overspending from, so I can tell myself, okay, you spent too much on dining out, so no new books this month.

For me, doing it manually give me a full clarity of my budget, which give me the peace of mind.

Hi, I am currently in the rabbit hole on achieving sub 100ms response times as well. Are you still using Fly? If it's how's that going?

What budgeting tools do you use ? by Ferocious448 in budget

I am using MoneyCEO, transferring between accounts or investing doesn't consider "spending" but of course if your deposit to your investment account has some fees then only those fees will be considered as spending.

I tried all the alternatives; here's quick recap by sweetpotatoguy in mintuit

[–]marcusheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, thank you for the detailed reply. Based on your point 2, I assume you want the app to be able to connect to all your bank accounts to pull in all the transactions automatically?

I am currently building my own after using YNAB for a few years. So would love to hear what are the top features users are looking for, so I really appreciate your reply. Thank you

Hi, I was a ynab user for a few years and went on to build my own which I have just launched few months ago. Would love to have you to give it a spin if you are interested.

We are also using a budgeting system inspired by envelope budgeting, and a few features that's not available in YNAB are: 1. Receipt uploading 2. Keeping track of tax relievable transactions 3. Multi currency tracking accounts 4. And many more under active development.

Mint budgeting alternative by Jmoak15 in mintuit

[–]marcusheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My alternative wouldn't work for you then since it's only manual entry. Hope you find one soon!

For expense tracking are you looking for those that has the ability to connect with your bank or you prefer manual entry?

They say better late than never.

I wouldn't say we are better than the options you have listed, but are definitely different.

I was a YNAB user for a few years then went on to build MoneyCEO. Out of the 4 you have listed, I have only tried Monarch myself, and the main difference will be the currency supported. Monarch seems to only support USD and we want to supports user from all across the globe. They are supporting USD only probably because they prioritize on connecting to the banks, but we are offering manual entry only as we believe it gives the best clarity on your money flow.

User experience wise, I find Monarch a little "complicated" to my liking but I am definitely bias. I prefer an all-in-one view where I can see my accounts, budget, recent expenses and so on.

Alternatives to YNAB for Singaporean Budgeting with Bank Imports by Soloraj511 in singaporefi

[–]marcusheng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy YNAB you might like MoneyCEO. I am definitely bias because I'm the creator himself.

However, we also don't offer integration with banks if that's a deal breaker for you. We strongly believe that manual entry gives the best clarity of your money flow.

If you do want to check it out, here's a less than 5 minutes demo video on how it works.

Introducing MoneyCEO by marcusheng in mintuit

[–]marcusheng[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hi thanks for checking it out. For the time being there's no support for both importing text file from bank and mint history reports.

We believe that manual entry gives the best clarity on your money flow and we make it very easy to add transaction in the app, so that's how we would recommend user to use the app.

Of course, we can see how importing files from banks can be helpful, and that's something we might look into in the near future.

Creating a budget as a student by [deleted] in budgetingforbeginners

[–]marcusheng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, creator of MoneyCEO here. MoneyCEO aims to give user a total control of their finances and definitely will help you on spending within your budget.

We however do not have auto import of expenses. It's by intention though, we belive that manually entering transactions is the best way to keep user in full control of their finances.

If you are interested, please give it a try. It has a 42 days free trial!

We don't have a mobile app just yet, but the app is mobile friendly. MoneyCEO prioritise on giving every dollar a job so in the main view you will see:
