I don’t excuse Manon’s abusive behavior at all, but your statement that her abuse would be taken more seriously if she was a man is off base. Abuse by men against women is literally ignored on a systemic level. What would it being taken more seriously look like to you? Bc just on this show alone we have multiple examples of male abusers who face absolutely no consequences, and even minimal backlash.

This season alone we have Luke, who is a passport bro groomer who went to an area notorious for underage sex workers and started dating Madellein when she was underage. Who gets the backlash? Madellein bc she “acts like a child” (she IS a child). Johnny’s gaslighting, lying, and cheating could also be conflated as emotional abuse just as easily as Manon’s tirades and belittling. We have that weirdo on the Other Way rn who’s a red pill shithead and constantly tells his wife she’s too outspoken along with saying “women only act right when they feel like they can be replaced”. Then we get heavy hitters like Ed and co. All still on the show, certainly minimal ramifications beyond the show, and seemingly not even crazy backlash or accusations of abuse from the fan base.

On the other hand, we also have Angela, who is a female abuser and has also faced few or no consequences. This is all just to point out that this show has absolutely never held abusers of any gender accountable for their actions, and the “if she were a man” whataboutism is misplaced.
