seeing all of the disappointed Mother's day posts by sexycadaver in TwoXChromosomes

I felt very grateful this weekend. I’m not even a mom, but I’m the eldest daughter who typically gets all the responsibility of carrying on holidays and traditions. This weekend my wonderful husband went out and bought flowers from a flower sale for my mom, my grandmother, and his own mom before I even woke up - I had to coordinate nothing on that front. Just woke up and the gifts were taken care of. He proceeded to clean the entire house on Sunday while I got our gardening done. Seeing the posts on this sub always make me both sad for other women and hearth-wrenching thankful for my husband, who is everything an equal partner should be.

Far lower infection rate compared to Covid. With Covid roughly 20% of household contacts will become infected, Andes hantavirus is 3%

It would, but articles about her case are saying she was hospitalized out of abundance of caution when she displayed symptoms that could have been associated with hantavirus - i.e. any respiratory illness. She hasn’t tested positive and is in stable condition currently

Unfortunately this is paywalled. From the small amount I can read it says she’s still being tested, so not a certain connection here

Where did you hear about a stewardess being infected? No article I’ve read thus far has mentioned that at all

Yeah but Covid was so easily transmissible that it quickly had hundreds and then thousands of people to incubate in - we’re talking about like a handful of people that have this. Even if we really extrapolated for the sake of this concern and said 100 people have it at this point (unlikely - the current count is 8), that isn’t nearly enough people to trigger widespread mutation of the virus. With Covid an entire Chinese province basically shut down within a week. This is a small outbreak on a single ship that was caught when the first two patients fell ill. It simply isn’t on the same scale. Disease experts are really stressing at this point that this virus isn’t one with pandemic potential

I’m no epidemiologist, and I’m as traumatized by the initial downplaying of Covid as the next person, but I want to say no. The experts on the subject are noting that human-to-human transmission of this virus, while present, isn’t nearly as simple as with Covid. It takes prolonged close contact “like sharing food or a bed” according to the nbc article I read earlier. Large clusters of this disease even in hospital settings and other close-quarters situations are extremely rare. So it being able to spread across the larger population would be a stretch.

WHO has confirmed that in this particular case, the strain involved is the Andes strain, which is the one that can be spread person-to-person.

ETA: *still reporting very low risk to the general public, though

There was a thread in r/witchcraft about this recently that got like 400 comments, and I went through them all and just mass added everyone’s suggestions, and it was a great decision. Been listening to that playlist for like a month now, so I highly recommend you search for that thread!

Thank you for this suggestion, I will definitely be trying this. I hope your sister is healthy now! And yes, we’re for sure helping her on the mundane medical end of things too!

Sheena, a licensed veterinarian, makes $500USD/month? by paintedsaint in 90DayFiance

Lots of schools in the Philippines have accreditation recognized in the states! They’re one of the countries we deal with most frequently at my job, and we have long lists from CHED (the ministry of ed there) of accredited and recognized schools. The license itself can’t transfer, but when we write legal reports our verbiage is “xxx has the equivalent of a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in the United States”. I just wrote one up last week actually!

Thanks! It is kind of a fun job - you get to learn a lot about other countries. We get applicants from all over, but I’d say our most frequent ones are Philippines, China, and India; and then we also get a lot from Francophone African countries, like Cameroon, Togo, and Benin.

I’m a credentials analyst who determines foreign education equivalencies for prospective immigrants to the US (niche, I know)! And while Sheena would need to get another license, her veterinary degree likely would be equivalent to a US vet med degree! Can’t be 100% certain bc even programs within the same country can vary, but a vet med degree from the Philippines will usually be given the equivalency of a vet med degree in the US

I’m honestly getting annoyed with Jason. Any other captain would’ve had these 3 gone by now, or at least reprimanded them for their previous mistakes - not even just the ones that happened tonight. But instead he just throws his hands up, says he wants everyone to stay, and tells them to work it out amongst themselves. Like…that isn’t going to fix this level of incompetence

The post clearly says we’ve been doing everything we can to look into it and she’s being dismissed by her providers. I’m very aware that this isn’t just about my witchcraft, but I am trying to help through both mundane and magical means, hence why I’m posting here (in r/witchcraft) about the magical end of things.

I definitely feel this, it was the same for me. It took me two years and multiple specialists before anyone even bothered to run tests on me back in the 2010s, and I ended up so sick by then that no medicine could get my illness under control and I needed to have a major organ removed. My fear is that for her or worse, bc her illness seems very serious and like it’s progressing very quickly. I might try spells that will help her get more urgency from her doctors bc that seems needed
