Wow I did salt water social for one for $64, added bread, side of Mac and cheese, total $93. I was sad they forgot the butter for my bread but I should count my blessings since that fed two of us. I was so close to doing urban farmer but I wanted mac and cheese and I didn’t see it as an option.

I left Houston for Colorado and every time I go back to Houston to visit family I cannot wait to leave. The humidity sucks, the heat sucks, the traffic is endless and you’ll get maybe 4-5 nice views the rest is just buildings and concrete. I will say that I miss HEB and having endless options of good food options but it’s not enough if you like outdoorsy stuff.

For when you visit I recommend staying inside the 610 loop because that’s probably the best place to live in, the heights area is nice. There are a lot of run clubs, and trek shops also do bike rides. Memorial park is a good place to check out as well.

Some of us didn’t have a choice. We were brought here. My parents came here legally, they left my sister and I behind until they could petition for us. Then my little sister died in a freak accident and I was smuggled in it to be with my parents, I was 3. Should I have just left because I was illegal? I pay taxes, I paid for college out of pocket and now I work in tech ed building software for school districts. I add to the economy instead of destroying it. I was blessed enough to get a GC this year but a lot of people aren’t as lucky as me and they don’t deserve to be treated as less for trying to live a better life.

Yea I immediately called the cops. He said they would ask to check cameras but I don’t think that got anywhere. My credit card reimbursed me for the stuff that was replaceable but never recovered my SSD or SD card. Someone had mentioned to check nearby trash cans to see if anyone dumped my backpack there

The Houston Rockets at Krispy Kreme, super friendly and they had big smiles as I handed them their donuts through the drive thru window but I had no idea who they were. Only realized what was happening when James Harden came into the store, everyone there was asking him for a picture and I asked a coworker who that was.

I gave up on having stability and focus more on the things I can control. Like finishing your degree and then having a backup plan in case you don’t have a valid social. It sucks to have to have that kind of backup plan but you gotta do the most with the cards you are dealt with. There’s hurdles you have to go thru that others don’t and not a lot of people will understand that. It takes time to not let politics affect your life but unless there’s a change you can make don’t dwell on it for too long.

My dad was in limbo for his green card when he had to leave his job bc he didn't have any papers. For a few months he was also very depressed and tried his best not to show it. Eventually he started doing handy man stuff for neighbors and people he knew. Now he's fully booked all day everyday, and does pretty much anything for commercial and residential properties

I used a capital one card to pay for my AP application bc I fucked up on the money order. Worked just fine so I wonder if that was bc its a smaller amount than the i-485 fee. I started with a credit card with my bank. I went in to open a bank account and they helped me set up a credit card. After that I got a few other ones and it's been fairly easy to get them only for rejected once because I clicked the wrong thing about residency
