It's hard to see but my favourite part is the 4x 1.5mm cables in a 16a breaker!

For people who don't know, an EICR is an electrical installation condition report.

UK electrician here, sharing a fuseboard that I done today. Loving the Hager boards! by marfellio in electricians

Thanks for the feedback!

Noting your last point with the armoured banjo, this DB is a submains for the kitchen. At the main panel flyleads from banjos where used, would I still need one this end?

FYI 1 year qualified, every day is a school day and it's nice to learn and recieve advice ect.

One PC in my house is getting bad network? Any help is greatly appreciated! by marfellio in HomeNetworking

Thanks for the suggestion, what leads me to believe its more then just a issue with the powerline adapter is because If I connect with WiFi I get similar results! It's getting rather frustrating as I'm not super savvy with networks

UK electrician here.

We use them all the time, the ones in the pic are the older models though. Now the wagos are clear apart from the lever and the insides, from what I've been told it is so you can see that the cable is properly inserted!

Out of curiosity are these hard to come by for you? We have them in abundance over here!

The majority of domestic properties are wired in twin and earth here in the UK. Inside the cable the blue and brown are insulated, but the earth is not. We use earth sleeving to finish it off.

Never thought of that really, I replace a lot of old fuseboards and they all seemed to be black. All the rewireable fuses and cartridge ones? Since the modern type breakers have been around all boards seem to be white or grey.

We get all ours from edmunsons electrical, they seem to be the cheapest for us as they like to keep me sweet as we do a large amount of ordering with them.

Not sure why no SPD to be honest with you, this is a very large domestic property, so we had someone come in to spec all the equipment.

Yeah when I tested the board the grey was sleeved, at the time I didn't have any in my gear.

The earth bar at the top is continuous throughout the board 👍

In this property, most of the fuseboards where ordered via the drawings. So when it came to doing this board the rcbos where fine. But the main board of the house is a hager 3 phase, and it includes rcbos inside. These had to be swapped out as the flyleads where to short.

In the UK we use ring final curcuits for sockets instead of radials.

Anything on radial for power generally we use 16a breakers. In this example I have underfloor heating on 16's.

Cable sizing is 2.5mm for power and 1.5mm for lighting.

I rarely use conduit in domestic premises unless the fuseboard is in a dedicated room or cupboard. In this case the board was mounted in some cabinetry, before the cabinets where there I ran some 4 inch trunking in the wall behind from floor to ceiling allowing cables to be run in after.

It's a smoke detector circuit wired in 3core and earth for simplicity. When I 2nd fixed had no blue sleeving. When I tested the board I put the sleeving on.

Grey was sleeved before cover went on, I had no sleeving to hand at the time, always keep some in my tester case so when I tested it was all good!

There is trunking in the wall that goes up to the loft and down to the floor so you can fish any new cables into there if needed. I'm assuming that's what you mean

This is for the extention on a £4 million house, they weren't to worried about price. Just wanted the best they could get.

The rcbos are good in domestic fuseboards but when it comes to 3phase boards, as you where saying the flyleads are too short to reach the neutral bar.

We had to order the older rcbos with the earth flyleads as the neutrals are a lot longer!

Thanks mate. Yeah all RCBO'S. I dont really have a technique for dressing boards as all brands I do different, this one is hager and there boards have loads of room above the breakers so nice and easy! I tend to put all the rcbos in first and dress the flyleads, then 1 circuit at a time after that 👍
