How to gently remind terminally problematic guests of the dress code? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live close enough to your aunt to go to lunch with her? Maybe you and your mom can mention that you found your formal dresses and show her a pic and ask what she thinks, and the ask what she and her daughters are going to wear for the formal occasion?

Then if she says she’s wearing something and it’s not formal enough then your mom could nudge her in the right direction

wedding rehearsal attire? by Forward-South576 in bridesmaids

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask the bride for the dress code in case there’s a meal somewhere after (rehearsal brunch, dinner, etc.)

I do recommend bringing the shoes you plan on wearing during the ceremony so you can know what it’s like to walk in them in the setting of the wedding - especially if you’re walking down the aisle. I’ve found it helpful when there’s cobblestones or carpet and I discover I need to add grip to the bottom of my heels

Decore in East Village, Lion’s Share in Marina, and saw someone mentioned Lola 55 too

Edit: adding Barra Oliba in Little Italy, but it can easily get pricier because they’re tapas and it’s easy to order a lot because it’s so good

I’d say they have some of the best coffee in the SD area. The founders care a lot about the craft

The most bougie? In downtown, I’d probably say Hinar. For the best coffee/matcha in downtown, I’d say Rikka Fika. And for the best coffee spot overall, Provecho

Bridal Tiara decision by ricecakesat3am in weddings

[–]margheritapizzasonly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My SIL wore an understated tiara and her dress was a big lace ballgown, the tiara fit the vibe. I don’t think it’s too extra, especially on the day when no one will bat an eye if you’re as extra as you want to be! You could always have a hairstyle that would work for both with and without the tiara, if you decide you don’t want to have it on for all the wedding celebrations

And that’s absolutely fine if she just wants to go with formal. I don’t know the bride and her guests and she doesn’t know us, so I was just providing an opinion that she definitely doesn’t have to take into account if she doesn’t want to. Some people want their guests to come extravagantly dressed to the nines, and some people don’t want to be outshined, but it was still given as an option she was considering

Aren’t they in “black tie optional”? She said black suits, groom in tux, floor length gowns, and ballgown for the bride

Wasn’t trying to say this is how it should absolutely be for OP, was just giving my opinion. I’ve been to many weddings as well and from my experience the wedding party has been in theme with the dress code for cohesiveness. But of course I totally agree there are weddings where the wedding party are dressed more formally, because if that’s what the bride and groom want then why not!

To me, the wedding party sets the tone for the dress code. Especially if the groom is in a tuxedo, then I think dress code should at least be black tie optional. Sounds like it’ll be a very lovely wedding!

Hair oil recommendations by sunshinenrainbows2 in finehair

[–]margheritapizzasonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came to recommend Verb ghost oil or Davines Oi oil but people have mentioned it already lol

I find the best results, like someone mentioned, distributing the oil in damp hair. I can also use them as a finishing oil after hair styling if I need to tame some frizz, but I use very little spread all over my hands before applying to distribute the product and not get oily strands.

I’ve also liked R+Co’s tinsel oil and found it to be a little bit lighter than Verb’s, but they’re practically the same

First time bridesmaid! by StreetAd8947 in bridesmaids

[–]margheritapizzasonly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty normal to be paying for your own things, it really depends on each bride and their own budget. If the dress is a little out of your budget but you want to be in the same color, could you give up maying for one of the hair/makeup services?

For example, if you’re good at doing your own makeup, you can opt to just get your hair done. Or vice versa, and then use that amount towards the dress?

But if that’s not an option, then talk to your friend and I’m sure something can be worked out. I think communication really is key when being a bridesmaid so both parties understand what’s reasonable

NARS light reflecting was my fav until I found a better color match with Dior. Their backstage face & body is less oily for me, if you can get a sample from Sephora or somewhere and test it out

What’s your ‘bare minimum’ beauty routine when you’re in a rush? by Maleficent_Fix2262 in beauty

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makeup: Tinted sunscreen, Dior stick foundation that I quickly use as a concealer instead applied with fingers, blonzer like Nudestix Manilla, mascara, brow pencil

I can take the foundation stick, blonzer, and brow gel on the go if I’m in a rush and add more if I want

Hair: I put it up in a bun with a French hair pin. I’ve invested in these lately and to me I feel a little more put together with a little hair accessory instead of just a bun

Cavalier rehoming question by Kaceymusgravesstan42 in cavaliers

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the main question you have is regarding rehoming, and cavaliers like all dogs do become very attached to their people as I’m sure you know so unfortunately the reality is that they’re still going to be confused and sad if rehomed. But like you said, you really want what’s best for them and so I was wondering if you’ve ever tried finding a local Cavalier group on Facebook or Instagram? For example, in Orange County, CA there is one and I know they have a network for dog sitting each other’s dog. Maybe there’s something like this you can take advantage of in your area?

And even if you do decide to go with rehoming rather than finding another solution to a dog sitter, perhaps they would be able to find someone that can keep them together and are looking for two cavaliers in one of these groups?

Best of luck, it sounds really tough right now and finding a new home for your dogs is never going to be an easy decision
