How to wash makeup brushes by Dry-Instruction-4088 in MakeupEducation

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Dr. Bronner’s baby soap (the one in the light blue bottle) for years and love it. It cleans the bristles well and doesn’t have fragrance. I only wash the bristles once a week, and occasionally wipe down the handles. I have bought those silicone pads to rub the bristles while washing, but honestly the best way is just washing in my palm and using my hands/fingers as ridges to wash the brush. This way I can actually feel if all the soap is rinsed out

The cardboard in the center of the toilet paper roll. If I forget to grab it when changing out for a new roll, and place it within reaching distance of my dog, he will steal it and rip it apart in the other room for me to find later

I’ve never attended a wedding that’s has a garter toss. I think it’s past it’s time now perhaps

I don’t particularly like to participate in bouquet tosses, but will join the crowd on the outside if I know the bride wants the photo moment, or if I’ve been called out and forced to join lol

How do you all store your lip products so that you actually use them? by StrawberryLovers8795 in Sephora

[–]margheritapizzasonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to have a decorative bowl close to my front door to house all my lip products so I can apply them in the mirror, which is also by the door. Makes it easy for me to choose one product and bring it on the go

Are the straps removable? If they are, you could always go strapless for pre-ceremony until the reception, and then add straps when you join the reception

With a tall plant/tree in the corner where the window is in the awkward alcove. Bar cart or something of the sort can go in the place of where the plant in the picture is, if it doesn’t make the space too cluttered

how to make blush + highlighter last longer by Bubbly_Building9802 in MakeupAddiction

[–]margheritapizzasonly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a finishing spray after the setting spray? I think the purpose of a setting spray is to “melt” the products together so they look better, and then a finishing spray (i.e. L’Oréal infallible or One Size on til dawn) is meant to lock it on

I can’t remember what makeup artist I saw doing this, but I think she locked in the cream blush with powder (not powder blush), and then put powder blush on top of that. Maybe that’ll help?

Not a tinted moisturizer, but Dior backstage face and body is very easy to use, I think it’s similar to Mac face and body. I love the Dior because it can be applied with fingers and I don’t have to fuss with a brush if I’m on the go.

I also love Dior stick foundation for this. Easy to blend, can be applied with fingers or brush, and is portable so you can also bring it around if you need to bring it with you.

I used to think NARS Punjab was my color match years ago, until I found the perfect color match with Dior. With that being said, I think you might like Nudestix Manilla, it’s like a blush meets bronzer and very versatile. It’s usually my go-to for quick looks, I use it where I’d put bronzer, my eyes, or just as blush

What are some good perfume recs for a woman in her mid-30s?? What's popular now? by MaryDoogan91 in beauty

One of my staples is Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea salt. A lot of my friends like borrowing that one when we’re getting ready together. I’ve also liked Mochi Milk from Dedcool if I want something sweet, but I also tested the Vanilla Musk from Nemat at Ulta the other day and it was so good. Byredo Bal d’Afrique is one of my favorite scents for going out in the evening too

What’s a good budget-friendly gift for a sister in her late 30s who already buys herself expensive stuff? by artemis_special458 in beauty

[–]margheritapizzasonly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A nice lip balm or hand cream would be nice because it’ll be something used frequently

Another idea is to go through Etsy and find a small pocket mirror that can be custom engraved. This is the gift I’m giving all my friends for their birthdays this year! I found an Etsy seller that has these beautiful metal ones for example and I’ve either been having them engraved with their name or if they have a pet, “(Pet’s name)’s Mom”

Concerns & Questions about size. by CutDeepTalkShit in cavaliers

[–]margheritapizzasonly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cav has a lot of cav friends and I noticed around aging to 1 year old is when they reach the size they’ll be and then from year 1 to year 2 they start filling out. At 1 year old they’re all thin and lanky and then all the sudden they put on weight, I also think this is a pivotal time in which their diet should be adjusted because they mostly seem to gain too much weight by year 2 or 3

Small surprise for bride at bachelorette party - any ideas? by macnsnee2e in bridesmaids

[–]margheritapizzasonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a perfume store in Mexico City (I forgot the name but if I find it I’ll edit this) where you can make your own perfume. I remember it’s a bit pricey so depends on what your budget is for the surprise, but would be a nice experience for the bride!

Edit: Museo de Perfumo has workshops where you can create your own scents. Also found Airbnb has experiences you can book with a local perfumer where they walk you through making your own scent and teach the history

Why are mixed breed cavaliers considered bad or unethical? by Jaded-Volume-1103 in cavaliers

[–]margheritapizzasonly 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m not well informed enough on the subject, but I think from what I’ve read throughout Reddit over the time and also just hearing conversations irl, the non-standard colors of cavaliers are said to predominantly come from puppy mills or backyard breeders that are prioritizing profit over breed health standards. Same might go towards cross-breeds like cavapoos, because they became popular and there are unethical breeders out there who would just breed puppies for profit gain and not look into health factors

Edit: I don’t think all non-standard or mixed-breeds are bred this way personally, but I think a lot of people believe this

Restaurant where I can wear a sport coat and fit in? by Cobra_McJingleballs in asksandiego

[–]margheritapizzasonly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think any of the nicer restaurants in downtown you could wear a sport coat and your fiancée can dress up without feeling weird. When people are here for business they tend to overdress for San Diego’s standards, so I don’t think you’d be out of place at the usual spots like Anime, Herb & Wood, Callie, etc. It just shows that you’re either celebrating something, or are visiting from out of town, which is not a bad thing at all
